for the Pioneers, it is recommended to use a Chroma 5 or EyeOne Pro Meter, CalMAN or ColorHCFR Calibration Software (Chroma 5 is not supported in ColorHCFR).

Quick question when I put my ear up against the machine with the power turned on I hear a slight buzz. I have the Pro-110FD. Does anyone else experience the same thing.

Thanks,

Joe

Yes a slight buzz when the power is turned on is normal for Pioneer plasmas. The manual for most models mentions this. The buzz can be slightly louder on some models during bright scenes. The buzz usually can only be heard from 1 or 2 feet back with the audio turned completely off.

The buzz depends on your surroundings. A Stone wall and wooden floors will increase the buzz. I have a 9G and honstly, in my room, the buzz is noticable from about 5-10 feet with my Onkyo Receiver around -40dB. Yes, it's THAT loud
Swapped it for a new one, no better, still the same.

Someone told me the Elite Signature series has less buzz compared to the other models. I have not compared the buzz on the Elite Signature series to the buzz on the regular Elites. I usually almost always watch programs with audio. I can hardly hear the buzz on the PRO-141FD and PRO-101FD most of the time. I have to turn the audio way down to zero or almost zero. About a foot or two away the buzz can sometimes be heard. If the display is on for more than 12 hours the buzz can sometimes be louder, also with no air conditioning running and with warmer room temperatures the buzz can be louder. The Pioneer plasmas like the PRO-141FD and PRO-101FD have a operating temperature between 32F to 104F with humidity below 85%. Pioneer mentions the buzz issue in the manual and at normal volume one can not hear the buzz at all. I am very picky about my displays and audio quality and if the buzz was to loud I would have went with a different brand of display.

Changing the power save mode will help with the buzz (but it will also decrease the brightness).

I contacted Pioneer about this issue and here is there response

Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics, Inc.

Some panel noise is normal. The distance you can hear it at seems normal. If you can hear it while the volume is at decent level and you are further than 15ft away, that might be an issue.

I've had my 5020 since January and have yet to hear a buzz at all. My tv is quiet as a mouse. However, the ps3 I use for blu-ray is loud as heck. I think I was lucky to not have the buzz because from what I've read on other forums it could be a deal breaker for some because its so loud.

These TV's are dope because they look better and better the more you put hours on them!!
I DISAGREE 200% My 111FD has been PROFESSIONALLY calibrated & the ISF modes are the best looking period!
