With the combination of it being an expensive series on HBO and JKR being a mega toxic brand this’ll be lucky to get two seasons before it is cancelled.

Only in online echo chambers, apparently. In spite of a an unprecedented online boycott campaign, and even major gaming sites taking part in shunning the game, Hogwarts Legacy made almost a billion dollars - in the first two weeks. It's on its way to being the biggest selling game of the year, and one of the most profitable games of all time.

The timing of this leaking isn't coincidence. The massive success of Hogwarts Legacy proved that corporations don't need to be scared of manufactured online backlash, and that the consumers they are actually selling to either don't care, or aren't even aware of it. It really was a turning point in them realizing what was already starting to become glaringly obvious - online outrage and those that live in the middle of it aren't actually your customers to begin with, and of those who are, they are statistically irrelevant.

I'm sure the online hate campaign about this show is already beginning, but just like Hogwarts Legacy, it's just going to prove the old adage of "there is no such thing as bad publicity" - they will keep this new series in the headlines for the next couple of years until it is released.

Gauging from the massive disappointment that was the last Wizarding World movie, I think it's fair to question whether interest in this franchise has peaked.... at least in regards to the film/TV side of things.
