I got the new Yellow Veil disc today and gave it a quick spin to check. Looks really good so far with solid encoding on a BD-50.
As mentioned, the transfer is not new (looks like a 2K scan from an interpositive) but not bad at all. Yes, a 4K restoration would have been wonderful and, based on the reviews, very deserving but in the meantime this will do just fine. Bonus features include two pieces by Annette Insdorf, including an introduction. I understand that previous BDs had none, so this is very welcome. If you notice your player / receiver showing you English audio, don’t worry it‘s all fine. Yellow Veil encoded the audio in both DTS-HD and Dolby Digital. This is my first release from them, so pre-ordering the new Has was an easy decision. Can’t wait for more! |
