Blacula (1972) (Sandpiper Pictures)

Sandpiper Pictures will be releasing Blacula on Blu-ray on December 5th. The film was previously released by Scream Factory as a double-feature, which has since gone OOP. No details are up yet, but Sandpiper releases tend to be barebones.

After a scuffle with Dracula's minions, Mamuwalde is bitten by Dracula and transformed into a vampire. Dracula then curses him with the name "Blacula" and imprisons him in a sealed coffin in a crypt hidden beneath the castle while leaving Luva to die in the chamber with Blacula.

Might just import the UK release, I would like to have both films! This is a good film though, so I'm glad it's in print in the US at any rate!

Surprising other boutique labels passed on this title, but maybe there wasn't much to improve on.
Being back in print is the important thing.

Yeah, I'm really surprised. Kino would have sold a decent amount had they done a Special Edition of this, and perhaps the sequel with a slipcover, and a new commentary track. They've certainly done as much with lesser films that don't have new scans from MGM.

Anyone know if this is a different transfer than the Scream Factory double feature?

This needs a 4k release too btw. It's really good
