I know, maybe they can't change the actual cover design itself. I mean the actual case (the plastic part), that's how it looks for WB releases in promo images.
I know this is silly stuff, but here you go: top one is WB's case design and bottom is Universal. ![]() Last edited by Hedrox; 11-02-2023 at 02:42 PM. |

I understand what you're saying now re: the case itself yet the banner is unmistakably Universal's because this is Universal's movie to distribute. But then as Uni and Warners have pooled their resources into the SDS venture that may be where this quite magnificently trivial promo cross-over has occurred.

Back when WB was putting out Paramount titles, there weren't altering those covers either (although the back covers were slightly different). ![]() ![]() Last edited by Hedrox; 11-02-2023 at 03:11 PM. |

This is frustrating. I finally got a chance to check out my new disc from Amazon and the 4K disc was loose before I even opened up the shrink wrap.
Of course there’s a couple of scratches. It’ll be yet another movie that I’ll have to return and exchange. |

The Abyss and True Lies released on 4K Blu-ray before even a whisper of any of the pre Craig Bonds would've maybe seemed unlikely when the format was first introduced but here we are in 2024.
Whatever the rights issues to only have a 4K SDR streaming option for one of most successful franchises in film history is pretty inexplicable. If it's the cost of production why not release them five at a time every year like the Hitchcock collections followed by a full set at a later date with maybe steelbooks to increase their margins? If Amazon wants to have them exclusively as a centre-piece to their streaming platform why don't they properly invest in a new transfer? If they are getting Nolan in the door for the next one maybe he can have a word with someone about the importance of physical media. |

Did the new WB release really need a review, when it's the same disc, or was it just an excuse for someone else to share their thoughts on the movie?

It feels like someone saw the "collector's edition" banner on the front, didn't understand that it's a holdover from Universal's release (and that they put that label on a bunch of releases, most of which I would not consider "collector's editions"), and thought it was some new special re-release that needed further consideration.

Indeed. I don't want to buy any of them. I'm probably just going to get a set with all of them at some point I guess IDK. Would be nice I guess to do it after this one is inserted into a set to complete his run. But I guess whatever the blurays I have of my favorites still look completely fine anyway.
