The Special Edition still contains the branching error of the line "So what are you doing down here, hot rod?" as opposed to "Yeah? So why did you come down?" (after Lindsey says "I didn't come down here to fight with you.")

My husband and I watched this last night at an AMC. It was the only theater in our metro area with a population of almost one million showing it and there were maybe 30-35 people there. Neither of us had ever seen this movie before, so we had nothing to compare it to. With that in mind, here’s my reaction:

I absolutely LOVED this film! It was exciting, thrilling, and held my attention the entire time. The opening scene had me strapped in and ready for the ride. My husband left his seat twice but I stayed glued to the screen.

I thought it looked and sounded amazing. That’s all I’ll say about that. I’ll leave the conversation about film grain and colors to those who have seen the film more than once and have a better trained eye.

My complaints are as follows:
1) Like others have said, the VFX shots looked horrible. It was so disappointing when everything else looked so good. Unfortunately, this was the first thing my husband and I talked about as we were walking out.
2) I laughed when Bud yelled “Noooooo!!!” That was ridiculous.
3) Why does the ship look solid above water but translucent underwater?

My husband hated it. But, he’s a tough critic. He also hated Oppenheimer. During the drive home he spoke of the tidal wave threat, “Stop killing or I’ll kill you.”

I’ll be picking up the 4K disc in March.

It was mostly fun watching a movie in a nearly crowded theater. Some people had some curious reactions at times. One guy had a really tough time with Coffey cutting himself - letting out a rather large squeamish Brian.

The weirdest was when several people laughed at Bud's line of "Goddamnit you *****, you've never backed from anything in your life!" Weird

I think the message was about the devastation a nuclear war would wreak on the planet. This movie was released during the waning days of the Cold War. It was more, don't lay waste to the planet because other creatures live here, too.

I was one of the people that laughed. I’m sorry, but it was laughable. And the way he slapped her back and forth. Hilarious.

I did’t really care for how much she got called a b***h though. And the overuse of the phrase “keep your pantyhose on” was cringey.

Sometimes I wonder if some complain just to hear themselves complain. This does not look bad at all. In fact it looks beautiful. Put your glasses on or take them off even to see if that helps a little bit on your next viewing.

Can Cameron release a new 2D T2 with his vision or he can't?

Reminds me of Lord of the rings triligy on UHD, which was almost unwatchable to me.

Yes, there will be more details than on DVD (obviously), the picture will look robust and all, but in the end it was tinkered with in ways that make it look distracting to my eyes. Damn
Will wait for reviews and hopefully some screen caps comparisons, but as it feels right now, I won't buy that UHD; maybe 2nd hand for like 10 bucks in the future.

Too bad, that Aliens and True Lies will have the same issues on UHD... maybe even look worse.

So, the finger goes out to Cameron and Disney for once again f***ing with a classic and botching it up (at least in some mayor parts), just "like" they did with all their big franchises on UHD. Talking Star Wars, Pirates, T2, Avatar and now The Abyss and probably True and Aliens
The Star Wars restorations were done before Disney bought Fox. Only Lucas is at fault. Pirates, yes, Disney was at fault. Cameron movies, Disney is not at fault. It's all Cameron.

Some people just have such a hate-boner for Disney that they love to say "**** you" to Disney even for things that weren't actually Disney's fault.

I don't know how one is able to inspect a scene to confirm what they think they are seeing while watching a movie in the theater. It's not like you can slow things down and watch over and over like you can at home. Some of the stuff people are mentioning you need to go frame by frame to even see.

What's a "squeamish Brian"?

Studio canal did nothing wrong, there was only one transfer approved by Cameron and that is the one on the SC 4K disc, and the multitude of 4k releases in the years following from other labels. the reason it sucks is because Cameron didn't really care about 2d 4k at the time, and optimized the master for maximum 3d quality. Also cameron hates grain so if t2 gets rereleased, expect DNR again, just more artfully applied like The Abyss.

I've heard/read in other places that there is a grain filled T2 4k transfer that does exist. Is it a guarantee we will get that on the next physical release? no, nothing is a guarantee, but in all likelihood we will.

I can't stand it when people micro-nitpick movies line by line. Not everything people say is Shakespeare in real life.
