This has been one of my main criticisms of the show. Reacher should be in shape. He’s described in the books has being fit and muscular… but tv being tv, they’re going to go with the “superhero physique.”

Maybe the show will get past this by suggesting that Reacher just spent a summer digging pools in Miami or something. I know that wasn’t part of the book season 2 is based on, but, the show is obviously moving other pieces around - Neagley being in season 1, for example.

The first 3 episodes of S1 are on Freevee which is a FAST (Free Ad Supported Television) streamer. Lots of good content on Freevee. Owned by Amazon

Reacher is also described in the books as being 6'5" and huge. IMO Ritchson isn't far off from the books which revel in describing how big Reacher is. The books are no more realistic than the TV show in this regard. Well, the books aren't realistic in almost any regard, but they're fun.

Saw the first two episodes at a Prime Premiere screening last night, if you enjoyed the first season you won't be disappointed, he indeed beats up a bunch of bad guys, and is bigger and better than ever.

In my mind while reading the books, I always equated Reacher more to what Razor Ramon/Scott Hall looked like… (and maybe a little bit of me. I’m 6’8”, 260.)

Saw the first two episodes before I went to bed last night. Pretty good.

My minor nitpicks can be explained away by “how to convey this internal monologue on TV” or “this doesn’t make good TV.”

For example, the show hasn’t really illustrated how Reacher sees numbers which was a big thing in the book.

Things are also happening a bit too quickly/easily.
- Neagley and Reacher
[Show spoiler]are at Franz’s office for all of 15 seconds before Neagley figures out the post office bit
.
- They only have
[Show spoiler]3 chances at hacking the password instead of 12. With 12, you got to get into the mind of Reacher/Neagley a bit more and see them fail a few times
.
- The team
[Show spoiler]shows up to the bar where Sanchez’s girlfriend works and within 5 minutes they’re getting all the details
.

It’s like the writers just looked at the plot summary on Wikipedia and went with it. Which again, some of the nuance that is in the book is hard to translate to the screen, I get that. Just wish there was some more of them “trying” to figure things out instead of getting to the next step so quickly.

Anyone else catch the reference to
[Show spoiler]James Barr (and presumably the events of One Shot, and the first Tom Cruise movie) while the team was on their way to Atlantic City
?

Getting tired of weekly episodes on shows. Streaming is coming full circle and turning back into cable.

Having now seen a couple of episodes form season 1, I think not having Reacher's internal thoughts conveyed is an unfortunate thing. It was one of the things I liked about the books - Reacher was a thinker, and that is not terribly well conveyed in the show. I also think the actor playing Reacher is more handsome than the character ought to be.

Just finished Season 2 Episode 1-3 and couldn't stop smiling.
I've read the book a long time and can't remember a lot but still I loved what I've seen. Ritchson is a perfect Reacher.
The waiting for the next episodes won't be easy

‘Reacher’ Star Alan Ritchson on Hard-Fought Lesson That Changed His Life: “I Almost Didn’t Survive”

Quote:
Two weeks ahead of the season two premiere on Dec. 15, Amazon confirmed it had renewed the series for a third season, which is currently filming. Hot on the heels of that news, the studio confirmed that the 41-year-old had inked a multiyear first-look film deal with his AllyCat Entertainment through Amazon MGM Studios. It’s no surprise they locked him down after Reacher became Prime Video’s most watched original series ever and became its first title to hit No. 1 on Nielsen’s SVOD rankings.
