Amazon sent me a notice that order is delayed with no new expected date. Ask for approval or order would be cancelled. I went ahead and approved it for now. Just logged on to Target and nothing available. Then went on to Walmart and they have title available with an arrival date for this Friday so I went ahead and placed the order. We shall see if that works. If I get the Walmart order, I'll cx the Amazon order. If the Walmart order gets delayed, then I'll wait to see which order gets shipped first and cx the other one or send one back if both arrive. Got to be flexible with this one.

Seriously, I've seen enough films theatrically in my life to remember that, yes, ALIENS, TRUE LIES, and THE ABYSS didn't look like what has been released today on UHD back in their original theatrical runs. I'm pretty well certain of that fact. This is not the look of vintage 1980s film. It's been altered to appeal both in color-timing and "digital" smoothed look to pander to 2024 kids / younger people who've been inured and weaned to that over the past 15-20 years.

And, yes, I certainly prefer the original mono or stereo tracks to be used for audio. Of course, I'm not against a 5.1 or 7.1 upmix, as long as the mono and modernist audio revisonary track are included and we're given the choice.

Perhaps those people have actually checked out the already-posted releases of these UHDs in the pirate boards, and have made an informed decision after all. Don't assume too much. Some wouldn't even choose a bootleg copy of these abominable tranfers.

What the hell did they use for the sticker on the slip on this thing? Even with goo gone it was impossible to get off. Now I’ve got scratch marks on the cover

This is what I was afraid of! The slips don’t look glossy like the Disney slips years back… and again those stickers aren’t needed because zero friggin stores have them just online shops!

Did you, like...quickly rip them off? Why would you do that?

I was able to get the stickers for this and True Lies off with no problem, though I had to peel them as slowly as possible to play it safe.

Anywho, I thought the 4K master was... acceptable.

Wish it retained film grain, dammit, but with that caveat aside, it looked alright.

Target accidentally shipped me two copies of Abyss. Crazy. One showed up yesterday and another one today.

IDK if this is any help, but my issue was on the SE version. Theatrical played no problem.

I slowly peeled it off and then used scotch tape to lift up the little bit of residue. But I agree, not sure why they insist on putting stickers on slips.

If you watched this movie in the theaters and it was playing the “original” one channel mono track you needed to go to a better theater.
