Scanners III feels like an '80s Cannon film. Completely bonkers.

Excellent! Seeing a Cannon or Empire logo at the start of a movie always guarantees a good time!

Is this set worth a 10 spot? Not keen on buying decade old Blu ray discs at this point, but the question is how likely are either of these for Ultra HD?

Did anyone ever test this set for region B-compatibility?

Very unlikely, I know, but I've got Scream's X-Ray/Schizoid double feature, so I feel like stranger things have happened.

I bought the set around 4 years ago. After watching the movies I sold it as I found both films to be pretty bad.

My copy of the Scream Factory ‘Scanners 2/3’ double feature blu-ray plays regardless of whether the region on my player (OPPO UDP-203) is set to A or B.

Just watched my copy of Scanners ll. That movie is actually fairly good! I enjoyed it even more than I thought I would.
Now when I get a chance I gotta watch Scanners lll.

I like both of them, III more than II. As already mentioned, the third one plays like a crazy cut-rate action/science-fiction hybrid film from Cannon or New World Pictures, and it goes into wild territory, including
[Show spoiler]a scheme involving mass assassination of thousands through a television broadcast, in the climax (shades of Halloween III).
Other than the concept of scanners, it doesn't have much connection to the original. The lead villain, Helena (Liliana Komorowska), is amazing.

The second film is more of a straight-forward direct sequel to the first one, featuring the son of the first film's protagonist. One of the villains is Raoul Trujillo, a great character actor who's been in a lot of movies and television, including the recent Blue Beetle superhero film. II is a bit more staid than the third film.

Neither touches the brilliance of David Cronenberg's film, of course, but they're fun.

I think Pierre David might own all of the Scanners films, and Vinegar Syndrome (surprisingly) released 4Ks of the two Scanner Cop movies (basically, parts 4 and 5), so I wouldn't be surprised if 4Ks of these two turn up eventually.

Yup. I bought these blind during one of Shout's better-priced sales and didn't regret it. They're a lot of low-budget fun.

I need to get the Scanner Cop movies. Two more blind buys I'm gonna bet on.

Scanners II is possibly my least favorite movie I've ever seen. It took me five sessions to get through it and when it was over I couldn't watch other movies for weeks. I don't even know what's so wrong with it, it has a couple REALLY good gore effects, but SOMETHING sure is. I think it was mainly just how horrible the acting was, especially "Slade." That combined with other elements like the photography seeming somewhat competent all combined to make it an agonizing bore instead of fun trash.

I haven't watched Scanners III or Scanner Cop 1/2 just because of my horrible experience with II. Reading the above reactions about III being much more fun has me curious.

I'm a fan of the first film. After watching II and III I sold the disc. Figured I would never watch either of those again.

Just finished Scanners lll: The Takeover and enjoyed it as well. I feel they are both decent sequels. And the nudity in III was actually tastefully done. Like it wasn't just throwing it out there for no reason.
