It does seem that most WWII movies tend to portray the Germans as drunken fools and we just walk in and totally destroy them without even trying. I say most.

I dunno while the good guys did eventually triumph in Saving Private Ryan, the Americans take a pretty good beating throughout the movie, especially when they landed on that beachhead on V day.
