It's not, though. Made for people who think they're above superheroes. Even the title is up its own ass. He's nothing without Batman, in my opinion.

Wow, boring, abysmal artwork on that Steelbook. Warner Bros. has been great about offering alternative artwork Steelbooks in other countries, looks like I'll be waiting to see if they use something more interesting elsewhere.

Never saw the first, seemed pretentious to me, like a hipster film for people who spit at mainstream hipsters. I still think the movie could have been literally anything and they tacked the Joker brand on it to bait DC fans (guess it worked). Can't decide who's more frightening looking Phoenix or Gaga.

Partly because it originally wasn't even about Joker. Todd Phillips took the script to a few studios and they all rejected it before he changed the character and city to Joker and Gotham.

Can't find the interview, but I remember making a stink about it because it let me as one of the resident capeshit movie complainers to say, "See? The studios ARE rejecting other kinds of movies in favor of..." I'm sure there was a thread or post about it here.

Edit: Must have remembered it wrong, and also conflated with what David Fincher said about superheroes, romantic comedies and tentpoles.
