I am about 6 hours in, and this game is OUTSTANDING! Story-wise, combat-wise! It may seem like hype, but this game exudes quality. This is already my frontrunner for GOTY. Of stuff coming up, the only thing that may surpass it would be Ghost of Yotei, but hot damn is this game good!

Huge thanks to the developer for letting us turn off all that post processing crap. I will never understand why any developer think those settings are good.

Also like that you can disable the QTE in combat.

I completely agree, why add them and why make them the default

playing on Series X and performance mode is kind of blurry, and these didn’t help at all, after turning them off the game is looking decent

I raised the horizontal camera sensitivity as well, as the default is pretty slow

Just the offensive QTE. You’re on your own with defense. I also turn off film grain, vignetting, screen shake and the like. Always welcome when there’s toggles.

I’m pretty horrible at the dodge timing so far

Parrying is satisfying but tricky, each enemy/attack has their own timing

I have not had issues with dodging. I got the achievement for beating a boss while taking no damage on the first major boss on my first try. The dodge mechanic is actually EXTREMELY generous. Parrying is a little more difficult, though.

One small nitpick: I wish the traversal speed was either slightly faster for the regular movement or slightly slower for the sprinting. Neither feels quite right.

I sprint all of the time, I'm glad there's no stamina (also that it's R2/RT, not L3)

Dodging is pretty decent, I suck at parrying!

I’ve gotten better with the parry mechanic, but I’m always so jumpy on the trigger the first time I fight an enemy.

I’m at Lv 13 and have pumped almost all of my attribute points into defense for when I screw it up

This game has already exceeded my expectations.

There are a few things you need to know technically (as in tech, nothing to do with story/gameplay for newcomers. Edit, 1 thing actually in accessibility or gameplay.. change run to toggle…

So..

Audio Music, crank that down to at least 50. Mine is 35 & music is still perfectly audible. UI sound, turn that down as well. Mine is cut in half for example at 50.

HDR, default values need changing unless you like a washed out image. Thankfully only minor changes were needed. Gamma set it to 0.95, Contrast 1.05, Brightness is fine at 1.

The beginning prologue really messed with me during HDR setup. Once the game opens up you’ll understand why little HDR adjustments are necessary.
