The irony of people that spend 20 hours a day on these boards critiquing video games as being a waste of time. Sweet baby Jesus.

But console gaming itself is really gone for me.
This very much sounds like the whole "movies suck nowadays and were *insert adjective here* back in *insert time period here*"

Much like that argument, I always say that maybe people aren't looking for the right spot for what they want at times.

It's less about kids affording and more if adults will pay for their kids. That's always been the thing.

Time is easy for some, not all. Having kids would probably really change a lifestyle for most, I'd imagine. Me? outside of work... It's just me and my dog, mostly. We watch Kung Fu movies and I play games all the time. I've played Helldivers 2 damn near close to a 1000 hours since it released. Granted. I was without a job for 3 months but still... Even when I did get a job I still only work 40 to 50 hours a week normally. That's still not even half a week's time. Plenty of time to blow off on my nonsense that I enjoy in there somewhere. I've come w/ the fortune of a comfortable lifestyle that I've built for myself. So, yeah. Free time galore.

What's interesting though is the PS5 has current versions of many of those and they are fantastic games. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart was amazing. Baldur's Gate was too. There are still great games.

LOL. Video games still did not cost millions to make and even more millions to market. The cost to make and market Space War was relative pennies compared to Starfield. Not even close. And Starfield is half the price of Space War when adjusted for inflation. There's also continual free DLC on Starfield allowing additional hours playtime to be added. Once you've played a few hours of Space War...that's it. You've seen and done everything. There ain't no more and won't ever be.

I find it ridiculous when people insinuate movie/film/game budget are inflated. Some are but there’s always been more expensive and less expensive films. But if the “classics” were to be made today, their budgets would be no different. Pricing is indicative of how deep industry pockets are and have always been and how costly things have become, less than studios running around spending without abandon. Too many can’t fathom what having a million dollars would be like let alone having the funding for a multi million dollar film. And as long as technology advances the next iteration will be better…and also cost more. you know the industry would be dead otherwise.

This doesn't contradict what I said, nor does it justify the ridiculous prices today.. Gaming is massive today compared to when you are talking about, giving these companies a huge install base to sell to. Also, no one is asking these companies to spend tons of money to make a game.

Not every game needs to last forever. Games that end can be just as fun and valuable as something like starfield, which, by the way, sucks.

What is the purpose of that picture? Serious question. Why post it? That is not the comic version most know on top. And you missed a movie version if that was the point.

To be fair though, when it comes to a comic version... it's all mostly due to popularity or preference. While I have not seen this artist's version of the couple... it's still very much the couple.

There is no purpose to It's posts, the picture was there to be right clicked so It reposted the image here, there's nothing deeper than that besides It seems to prioritize Disney/Marvel spam over any other kind of spam unless It sees there's another more popular movie other people are enjoying talking about and It gets jealous they like a non-Marvel/Disney film.
