I don't think this cover is too busy. I like that it features all the key human characters instead of just featuring the shark.

I could have appreciated if the wife and mayor were left off for a cleaner look but I still love the style of the artwork. I know the OG poster is iconic and all but it's terribly overused.

I agree that the artwork style is nice, even if Quint's image is underwhelming. It's unfortunate that they went with a streaky matter finish, though.

Yea, that released with the first true frame-by-frame remaster of the movie for Universal's 100th Anniversary. My mind was blown by the quality and how the movie looked, as if it was shot that year it was so clean. But there's always need for the old and gritty, grainy look as well, so I keep all editions for certain movies, and this is definitely one of them. I think there were other editions that may have come with the book detached, but I could be wrong. I also only usually get steelbooks, so to get that version means I love the movie enough.

I don't mind cleaning up artifacts and whatnot, but making it looking too clean and messing with the color balance is a bridge too far. Someone posted some comparison pics forever ago here for a few films and it really shows how far the tinkering goes in messing up some of these classics. |

I to like the new SteelBook’s art, even though I went with the slipcover 50th release to better match my 2-4 releases. I do kind of wonder how this might have looked if it was formatted a little differently though, where the SteelBook would have had the unmodified poster we know and love, and then it could have had a Lionsgate style slip with all the characters on it and potentially even the text 50th Anniversary.
