It’s diabolical hi-jinks, gory thrills and devil dolls abound in this essential Euro-horror entry from post-Francoist Spain! When a young married couple venture out into the city of Madrid, they have a chance encounter with a mysterious couple, claiming to be old friends of theirs, who invite them back to their large, secluded villa out in the countryside. What follows is a night of bizarre satanic orgies, blood curdling nightmares and gruesome murder as the young couple are thrust into an entangled world of cabalistic ritual where their very souls may well be the next offerings to the dark prince himself!

Carlos Puerto directs this devilishly erotic gothic chiller; a prime example of the liberated ‘S’ rated run of Spanish cinematic terrors executive produced by Juan Piquer Simon (Pieces) and stacked with hellish bonus features in this much-treasured special edition!

Most likely using the newish 4k transfer that VS used for its stellar USA release back in 2021. No clue about the mastering/encode that might be employed here.

Already have the VS release but those new extras seem like something I might actually watch. For now pass but its hard....Im weak...weak I tell you.

The last disc I bought from Treasured came with a curtain of scratches and they've not responded to the message I sent them about it so given their non-existent customer service I am very reluctant to order anything from them directly again.

Watched this last night, and wondered if anyone had any opinions of the encode?
I thought it looked nice in parts, but had some instability in the encoding and a slightly drab look in places.
Haven't seen the Vinegar Syndrome version, so wondered if it was identical?
Amazing film though! That doll is ****ing creepy.

I ended up getting this version rather than the VS one as I figured it would be the same but I would also be interested to know if there was any difference between the two.

Colors (blacks and reds) are better on the Treasured apparently. I remember looking in the booklet awhile ago to see who encoded it and I forget who it was. It wasn’t someone I heard of, but it wasn’t as bad as a Silversun encode or anything.

Other than what has already been said PQ wise this UK one has more extras including a different commentary to the VS one.

Looking at the screencaps on Mondo Digital, it seems that the master has some issues, and is a bit blocky looking in places. Although, the Film Treasures release looks like the way to go.

My thoughts exactly. No matter the label, his discs are scratched, almost without fail it seems.
