I'm a little hesitant. I love Donkey, but for me, he's best in small doses. Sorta like Jack Sparrow, he seems kind of like an unchangeable character that may sway a bit emotionally across the events of the film, but never really changes all that much. But I'd love for them to finally add some depth to Donkey!

After him, give us a Gingy movie that tests the limits of a PG rating. That foul-mouthed, rambunctious cookie would be a great time. Bonus points if it's a dark, gritty noir flick where he has to solve the murder of the Muffin Man.

Eddie Murphy: No, they're still doing voiceover stuff. We're still in the booth, and literally, we're still doing Shrek. We start in September on Donkey, we're doing a Donkey one, and that'll be three years from now, but we're about two years into Shrek 5. Still in the booth and about to start Donkey in September.

ScreenRant: Is Donkey going to be a movie or a TV show?

Eddie Murphy: No, Donkey's going to be like how Puss in Boots had his own movie, Donkey's going to have his own movie, own little story with his dragon wife and his kids that are half-dragon and half-donkeys. They've written this funny story. We're doing that, starting that in September.

Not sure about this. To me, Donkey as a character works better as a sidekick to Shrek rather than the main focus. I can't really see a film where Donkey is the lead working that well.
