I am sure Donkey was as popular as Puss N' Boots at the time.

The MCU way, let's do more movies of that until people get fatigued and then we try something original for a change.

I'm a little hesitant. I love Donkey, but for me, he's best in small doses. Sorta like Jack Sparrow, he seems kind of like an unchangeable character that may sway a bit emotionally across the events of the film, but never really changes all that much. But I'd love for them to finally add some depth to Donkey!

Enough time has gone by that OG donkey fans have grown up and now have little donkey fans of their own. Donkey nostalgia.

Donk-stalgia. Been too long since I've had that sweet, sweet Donk on my screen.

After him, give us a Gingy movie that tests the limits of a PG rating. That foul-mouthed, rambunctious cookie would be a great time. Bonus points if it's a dark, gritty noir flick where he has to solve the murder of the Muffin Man.

EXCLUSIVE: ScreenRant: I know Shrek 5 is coming out next year, and you said around this time last year that you had begun recording your lines. Are you done in the booth? Are they just doing the animation right now?

Eddie Murphy: No, they're still doing voiceover stuff. We're still in the booth, and literally, we're still doing Shrek. We start in September on Donkey, we're doing a Donkey one, and that'll be three years from now, but we're about two years into Shrek 5. Still in the booth and about to start Donkey in September.

ScreenRant: Is Donkey going to be a movie or a TV show?

Eddie Murphy: No, Donkey's going to be like how Puss in Boots had his own movie, Donkey's going to have his own movie, own little story with his dragon wife and his kids that are half-dragon and half-donkeys. They've written this funny story. We're doing that, starting that in September.

You're wrong. Someone wants it, or else it wouldn't be getting made and we wouldn't be having this conversation.

The real question is, do enough people want this that it will make a profit?

I'm only shocked it didn't happen years ago, back when the first two films were out.
