If anyone actually gives a shit, haven’t made it to JB yet to purchase The Doors 4K. Was hoping someone less discerning would take the plunge. Someone who doesn’t give a shit about not getting the Final Cut on UHD… Although it is most likely, a f*ck up by AID.
Roadshow recently, on the back cover, stated that Amadeus 4K had English 5.0 DTS-HD Master Audio (it is, in actuality, 5.1 lossless). |

![]() ![]() F*ck! The UHD is the theatrical cut only. Played it last night. Unlike the 1080pBD, when you choose “Play feature” it doesn’t ask “Theatrical or Final Cut”. Tried to all 3 language/country choices (French, German, UK), to no avail. I’ve noticed recently, in the UK, they’ve dropped the Final Cut from the front cover in a later release. Can only assume that is when SC decided to reauthor the UHD and drop the Final Cut. Edit: The May 2025 release in the UK is advertised in the UK as 3 discs. UHD - 140 minute Theatrical Cut Only. 2xBD - 1080p of both cuts and Extras disc. The 2021 release in the UK is more vague, although it does state “The Final Cut” on the front cover. The specs on the Amazon UK listing states the UHD has the Final Cut 138 minute run time for the UHD. Unclear if it is both cuts on the UHD, like the original 2019 release. It does have 2xBD (both cuts of film in 1080p + extras disc, same as the 2025 release). The US Lionsgate release in 2019 of the The Doors: The Final Cut, is the only release in the US, and it has both cuts on the UHD (according to the Blu-Ray.com review). And since it was released almost the same day as Studio Canal, looks like it will be, for all intents and purposes, the same remastered 4K transfer. However, the 1080pBD accompanying the 4K BD is the original US 1080pBD (run time stated as 138 minutes), that is less then stellar (3.5 stars), unlike the Aussie and UK 1080pBD, which is both cuts and the is the 4K remaster, downscaled to 1080p. The US Final Cut UHD is the cheapest option for those looking to own a copy of the Final Cut on 4K. The original UK 4-disc “Collectors edition” of The Doors: The Final Cut apparently has both cuts on UHD and is easily the most expensive to import (4th disc is the documentary about The Doors “People are strange”). Breaking News:
Found out why we are only getting the Theatrical Cut on UHD. Essentially, Oliver Stone hates his own creation and regrets removing the scenes he removed in the Final Cut. Pics from his Facebook profile re: The Final Cut vs. Theatrical Cut (can’t cut and paste). Mystery solved. |
