Forced ads: no, no, not that!!

Anyway I did take a detour before getting around to Ripley's Game. It looked and sounded pretty decent, not just stereo this time around if the end credits were any indication. Forgot how good the film was, just remembered some bits and pieces here and there. Recommended. This needs a hi-def disc… maybe warner or criterion will surprise us some day (soon!).

And re-watched Remember My Name again. Still pretty good and worth the bother, I'll just try a little harder this time to remember it better.

I watched Nobody's Hero (Viens je t'emmène). Very good movie about interesting topics.

I probably won't get to Remember My Name in time, but it seems sleazy enough that it feels appropriate for Tubi and might be worth suffering through ads for.

There's something expiring from MUBI tonight - Thursday Till Sunday - so I'll probably watch that later along with any expiring short films on the Channel that pique my interest.

I started watching Nobody's Hero but I wasn't staying awake enough and it hadn't quite grabbed ahold of me so decided to turn it off.

And wasn't quite in the mood to try another so…

MUBI yanked the movie early before they said they would and before I could actually watch it, so I ended up getting to see Remember My Name on the Channel after all, and I'm sure glad I did. What a gem! I really love Tony Perkins.

It's ridiculous to me that there's no Blu-ray, DVD, or digital release for this. It's obviously in HD and looks terrific, so what gives?

I added the remaining two Alan Rudolph films on the Channel to my watchlist that I haven't seen (I watched Trouble in Mind a few weeks ago and really liked it).

Earlier in the day, I caught the hour-long documentary Slaying Goliath (kind of like Hoop Dreams but with 5th graders and much shorter) and the short film Sound of the Night (not much of a story, but cool to look at).

Falling asleep during a movie that won't be there tomorrow - or losing internet - would frustrate the hell out of me, but at least this one didn't grab you, so you won't have any regrets.

I obviously liked it much more than you did. It grabbed me right away. The beginning of the movie - a middle-aged loser wanting a loving relationship with an older married hooker - was enough to hook me. No pun intended.

Remember My Name has music issues presumably due to Alberta Hunter not leaving a will, or something like that. Shame really. Good thing you still had the chance to watch it (without forced commercial interrupions

) and enjoy it.

Did we get the original music for the Channel version? I assume so, since the soundtrack was quite unique.

WTH? That's ridiculous when there's a 4K version now. I know the Channel doesn't have anything in 4K, but it could at least use that transfer and show it in HD.

I could be wrong- I didn’t watch the whole thing, just part of the opening credits and it looked pretty soft to me.

They had an mis-framed Strange Days last month, so I assume they just program whatever they are given, and in some cases that may not be the latest remaster.

Sometimes the opening credits look soft but the movie itself looks good. I see that a lot on various streaming services. I'm not sure why.

I didn't realize that Strange Days was misframed. It looked terrific to me. Then again, I haven't seen it since the theaters and/or the non-anamorphic DVD.

I always figured it was the bandwidth throttling up.
A poor service will dip in and out of HD according to available bandwidth.

I just checked Panic Room and it looks HD to me.

It's one of my fav films and Altman's best. Shelley Duvall was amazing in it.

When I saw it the first time, I "tripped out" seeing Margaret Hamilton as Daphne Heap in the opening scene.
