Due to the size of the room and my TV the only options I have is to place the center channel is either on the stand where it presently sits or put a shelf on the wall above the the TV. I'm not sure if putting it that high up will improve SQ.
when you say 'high up', do you mean
putting the tv on a speaker stand above your tv?
or
putting it on the tv stand, on the same ledge that the tv is on?

if it would be the latter, then id consider trying it out first. you'd be surprised at times. especially when you isolate the center speaker.

its all about experimentation and placement.

I totally agree with you .
I've always had my centers over the TV ( until i got the OMD-C2)and i was very happy with the sound. For me it just sounded fuller.

It is a preference.

Like jomari says ,Experiment

I prefer mine below... but with my new entertainment unit, that wasn't an option. I've found that when limitations force you to place your CC above the screen, angling it downwards towards the listening area sounds better than leaving it straight horizontal.
