Is it me or is there people on this site that have to own EVERY SINGLE Criterion Blu! I can't see somebody actually liking every movie they release on blu-ray or DVD for that matter. I just buy the films I actually like and enjoy. I guess some people collect Criterions like stamps ,coins, etc. Sort of a hobby.

Can you name a Criterion Blu-ray that has been released that is not worth owning?

I own all of them & have loved each one, but you know, everyone has different tastes

I plan on collecting the full collection on Blu-ray because I got in on it in the beginning, there are many criterion dvds now out of print. I may make an exception and not buy a movie I already know that I hate (i.e. the kevin smith films if they ever come out under criterion) I have yet to watch a criterion collection movie that even if I didn't enjoy it, there's always been a worthwhile reason to watch it at least once.

Yeah ,but they NEED more better films on blu IMO like, Seven Samurai,Brazil, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,Two Lane Blacktop, The Last Tempation of Christ,Time Bandits,M. Hulots Holiday,Mon Oncle,Trafic, The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic(why they did Bottle Rocket on blu is beyond me, when the other two Wes Anderson films i listed are much higher on the food chain) As for Jon Mulvaney, I've emailed him with ?'s and he NEVER resonds back!

I'll name you three:
El Norte
Monsoon Wedding
and as much as I love Hendrix; The Compleate Montery Pop Festival (So many films that deserve CCBlu treatment before that)

and I'm a massive Criterion fan and film fan that loves most things Criterion releases but those three just are not worth-it.

I'm not that big of a fan of The Man Who Fell To Earth and Wings of Desire either but I can see why they got the treatment.

I love how people are actually complaining about this. Do you really think it would make sense to give out free cases for everyone who asks? Do you know how much they would lose? $5 is nothing for shipping, the actual case.

I understand we don't have to upgrade to plastic, but there's a reason they didn't keep the cardboard around (whether it be negative feedback from consumers, durability, or whatever). If it's negative feedback, you'd think they would offer a better deal than $5 to all the people who complained. If its durability, they never should've had paper in the first place and should offer replacements because, like it or not, they sorta screwed up with their initial packaging.
.
Hilarious. What about reissues? "I bought your original release and now you rereleased it with more extras! OUTRAGE!".

I just buy the films I actually like and enjoy too. That's why I have every single Criterion Blu (except for Ben Button and Monterey Pop). Some of us like more than 5 movies.

Not "everyone who asks," but perhaps everyone who traded in their digipaks. That way there wouldn't be any cheating. And $5 may be "nothing" for shipping 1 case but it's a lot for shipping 9.

Don't like Monterey Pop? You probably don't like Gimmie Shelter or Woodstock either!

Since it's "just a case" I'll be holding off, to see if they ever drop the price etc .....

Perhaps the demand will be low, so they'll have an incentive to move these cases with additional artwork...... (or they'll get a lot of inquiries for cheaper rates for all 9 )

Sorry this has nothing to do with the current topic, but I finally found a Criterion Blu-ray at my Best Buy! The only problem was that it costs $42.99 which is absolutely ludicrous!

The blu was Monsoon Wedding, which I want, but not at that price. I'd rather continue ordering mine through amazon with free shipping.

I found it weird though because I've always wished that my local BB would carry the Criterion Edition Blus but they never have and this is the only one they have.

The MSRP on that is only $39.99. Why is BB selling it for above MSRP, and two weeks before street date? That makes no sense...

I was wondering the same thing. I had the blu in my hands, but nothing could justify me spending $3.00 over MSRP for it, not even having 2 weeks before street. I may go back and try and convince them to bring the price down. I don't know, of course there's amazon.

If they got the packaging right in the first place, we wouldn't have to send $5 extra dollars. They are the ones who changed their packaging after they spent months coming up with it.

That's why I'm complaining, and my complaint is legitimate.

My local Best Buy is finally carrying "For All Mankind" now, as well, but it's priced at $34.99... and we all know that's a bit ridiculous, considering how long it's been priced at $19.99 on Amazon.

Well, since "Monsoon Wedding" is scheduled to be released next week on the 20th, I'm just gonna go ahead here and guess that it's only out early one week before the street date.
