Yes, I just ran test tones. The results are unbelievable. I will post them as soon as I plot the graph.

Incidentally, this is the frequency response of the new 12" DIY subwoofer. It is very impressive. The volume could have been raised, but I did not want to do damage to the driver. My ears were covered with cotton and headphone.

Wow that's impressive. I've learned so much on these forums, a year ago that chart would've looked like hieroglyphics to me! Glad the sub turned out well.

Thank you. It is not accidental that the frequency response turned out to be impressive. The box was designed by ED for that particular driver that I used. I put the box together, painted it, and added the driver and the amplifier. That is the same driver they use in the popular A2-300 subwoofers, but this box is a little bigger.

BD,

are you going to leave it as is or EQ it to smooth out the 25 and 35Hz peaks and the 30 and 45Hz dips? Basically I used the eQ.2 just for that purpose, and it made quite a difference.

The 25Hz to 35Hz frequency range is a problem in my room. Almost all subwoofer make the entire room vibrate particularly at 25Hz. I have a feeling that is the resonant frequency of the room. I plan to do fiddle with the equalizer in a few days, but I am too tired right now from kneeling on the floor and messing with the stupid box to worry about equalizers.

Thumbs up A2-300’s In Stock!

Quote:
Its always an exciting time for us to have A2-300’s in stock. After increasing production multiple times, we are finally to the point of having A2-300’s along with its larger brothers available for same day shipping. This is a huge thing, as some of you might remember waiting over 4 months for theirs a couple years ago. Boy o’ boy have things changed.

Increased production staff….Check!

Bigger…better…faster…more accurate CNC machine….Check!

Better production processes…cutting construction and finish time…Check!

Better materials…Check!

Better products…Check!

Received my A2-300 about a month ago and was working well until yesterday when the woofer started making rattling noises at slightly loud levels. Sub gain is at about 2 o'clock position and rumblings from movies and music rattle the driver. Never happened before at this volume but after it started it continued even at slightly lowered volumes. Rattling sounds are from driver and doesn't seem to be from loose parts inside. Please advise.
Anyone else have rattling problems.

Gonna get the chance to build that 2nd riser sooner than expected!

No. I have the gain set at around 1:00 with no issues. It rattles the walls and windows, but getting no issues at all with the driver. Maybe someone with more experience can weigh in. Sorry I can't be of more help.

good to hear that this sub can handle the increased gain. Hopefully someone can chime in with similar problems or that eD can give me a fix for this.

I had something similar. it was a messed up driver. Kind of a rattling that would happen especially on more rumbly bass. eD sent me a new one and mine sounds awesome now.

good to hear there may be a solution. I've only had it for about a month and still testing out what it can do. I emailed eD, hopefully they can get back to me. If there are any reps out here, please contact me.

Get on a Live Chat at eD or call Elemental Designs so they can get you a replacement driver sent out.

I was told:

Quote:
With the level adjusted to 2 oclock, its most likely clipping. What is the LFE or subwoofer level set at on the receiver?

You mentioned needed the level at at least 1:30-2 to get the output you are looking for. It is possible that the unit is too small for your requirements. If the driver has an issue similar to what the other customer mentioned, it is audible at all levels.

If you put the speaker on the side, can you see how far the cone is moving? If the cone is moving more than 1.25-1.5", the noise you are hearing is due to over driving the speaker.
I guess I could be overdriving it but even at lower levels, it can be heard.
