Hopefully YRF learns from Reliance and not be delusional with the fact that his customers do not have receivers that support lossless audio, just my 2 cents

If it was done in Germany, probably done by Alive AG. Jodhaa Akbar is being released by them in Germany on December 4, 2009.

India/Bollywood Jodhaa Akbar BD info and Screen shots!

Jodhaa Akbar BD50 first impression - Very good. Plays on PS3 unlike EROS's BDs. costs 900 Rupees. As I have already seen the Bodega B Region release, I can say that the quality of this release is very much comparable. Bodega is superior in terms of colors which I feel are more vibrant compared to this one but its region locked and this one is region free and no English subs in Bodega. Here English subtitle is available but is not scope friendly. Bodega's release had bad side borders, here the borders are even. I am a happy customer. :-)

Size=41.3 GB
Video=AVC codec
Audio=DTS-HD(MA), DD 5.1 448Kbps
Subs=English (NOT Scope Friendly)
Special features=NONE

Screen shots below (all lossy compressed format)

Those are some nice screenshots!

BTW, are you sure there are no special features included with the blu-ray? If so, that would be disappointing.

I too have seen French Jodha Akbar. French Jodha Akbar looks HD Video But This Reliance's Jodha Akbar is near to Film quality. I liked Indian Jodha Akbar. Some one will sure inform reliance about the subtitles, so next time they will ask authoring company to provide scope friendly subtitles.I thin due to long duration (214 Min), Reliance has not compromised with the PQ and AQ

I loved the Jodha BD. I was thrilled to see that there is enough grain to the image, which retains a film-like and natural look entirely appropriate to the historic film.

Colors are also fantastic. Fleshtones are also far more consistent, despite all the stylized lighting. Blacks are perfect, and contrast expertly modulated. Kiran's trend-setting cinematography is already being appreciated -- particularly his stunning use of light and shadow.

Lastly, Reliance has delivered a terrific encode. The image retains its sharpness without being overly edge enhanced. Noise is not a problem (even on the darkest areas of the picture).

There is also no apparent banding, macroblocking or other nagging artifacts -- simply put, this is beautiful compression work. Reliance has absolutely hit it out of the park with this one, and it's easily a five-star presentation up there with the best.

am i the only one who feels the image looks DNR'ed and EE'ed.

i know screenshots arent exactly faithful, due to compression, but the compression cannot do all the damage.

Don't see any obtrusive DNR / EE, if at all any minor filtering applied during DI stage. I heard from reliable sources that many Indian movies have some amount of DNR / EE baked into the master.

does this movie has / need a DI ?

and if what you say is true, its sad that the indian film industry takes soo many steps to downgrade their quality, and is reluctant to take the right steps, even after being advised through the many smart people on this forum.

I bought the BD yesterday night and watched on my 52" LED screen . It looks like watching the same quality as I saw in Theatre. At some scenes it was better then viewing the same scene in theatre. Reliance Big Home has given cinematic treatment to this movie by thier strict QC. I am a simple bollywood fan and not aware of technical terms like DI/DNR/EE/color correction etc etc. I am a satisfied customer.These screen shots are far more inferior to actual scenes on the screen.

No, they are not. They are not in motion. And jpegs, but not overcompressed. Quite accurate.

How do you know its not compressed ? Have you captured the screenshots?
Size of this image is 205k where as size of uncompressed 1920x1080 must be very large. Even pictures taken by my nokia mobile are very large . Can you guide me whats the reason behind this. Also tell me how to capture screenshot- so I can capture and compare .Thanks

Jpeg by its origins & nature is a form of image compression.

how much you compress the image information is upto the author.

what JJH meant (i assume) is that these jpegs arent OVERCOMPRESSED - meaning compressed to a decent quality enough for you to idenity any artifacts. An accurate representation, as one may say.

Infact, truth of the matter is, the glorious 1080p footage that you see on bluray is also compressed.

as of todays technology, uncompressed video is unavailable to consumers.

and about your 'nokia mobile' - resolution is only one of the many factors that determines the quality of an image.

if you remmember few years ago, dvd was considered superior for higher resolution compared to any of the other formats that were available back then, and as soon as the pirates adopted it, the cameraprint movies they produced were hardly distinguishable as dvd quality, even though they were full 720x486 resolution.

so hope that clears things up.
