Questions about the mail in rebate of BD movies from Amazon.com

It is the barcode that gets scanned when you purchase a product at the store and you use the self-checkout, or that the cashier runs over the laser when ringing your purchase up. If you're still confused next time you purchase something just have the person ringing up your purchases show it to you. They all look alike except for different #'s at the bottom. The previous post was correct it is a part of the box that you need to cut out w/ scissors or a box cutter.
It is located on the right, lower edge of the box lid between the handle (on the left) and the uc2 sticker (on the right edge).

Im so confused by your post, I re read it many times but I cant fully understand. So you are saying that the white and black barcode printed on the box that the laser goes over to register the sale IS the UPC?

Precisely. UPC stands for universal product code. It is essentially an electronic price tag, but unlike the old fashioned sticker price tags when a product is rung up the computer also subtracts it from the stores inventory.

Why the fancy "UPC" name then? I always called that simply the "barcode".... they just confuse people with this abreviations and fancy names with little to no explanation. Would it have killed them to write "UPC barcode"? I would've gotten it had I read that.

The UPC barcode may not be the only barcode on the package. For inventory control purposes various distributors and retailers put their own barcodes on packages to track them through the supply chain.
