Exactly.

The OP has a Sharp LC-46D82U (HDMI v1.2)...what advantage would a 1.3 receiver have for him? Nothing. The PS3 can only send Lossless audio via PCM anyways.

now the question is, do you want the BurrBrown DAC's and 5.1 into 7.1 matrix ability? or the HDMI v1.3??

You missed the entire point while getting all defensive.

The key words in my posts were "cost" and "future".
1. Cost- Self explanatory
2. Future- Onkyo has more room for expansion.

What if the OP wants to upgrade his tv? What happens then? Or if he gets a different Blu-ray player? Its like when movies started becoming 7.1ch and people only had 5.1ch receivers. They had to buy new receivers. The matrixing is not that important. 5.1ch PCM sounds great as is and with both receiver he stills has 7.1ch audio. I don't know about you but I like to buy things once. I don't want to have to buy a new receiver + tv when new technology arrives. The PS3 is ready with HDMI v1.3, why not match it? The OP is going to be seriously limited when he upgrades his tv or something changes.

And since neither of us are going to agree because we're both stating opinions, the OP will have to choose himself. Nonetheless he'll be happy with either receiver.
