Though I think that Empire is a really good movie it doesn't even come close to the greatness of the original from 1977 in my opinion.

My favorite is episode IV which came out before the first one filmed in 1977 when Luke was a teenager not in the 2000's when is was a child before canobe died in 1977 but raised him in 2000 something when he leaped into his fathers body but Al helped him build the flux capacitor so he could change his future by aging back wards which is a curious case indeed.

I voted for Empire, but it's really close between Star Wars & Empire. Jedi drags to much in the middle but the end is awesome.

Hm, I eventually voted for Ep.I and II, because I saw EP.I 15 times in the cinema, and countless times on DVD, and it still gives me goose bumps every single viewing (when Anakin tests out his Podrace for the first time and yells: it's working- I don't know what it is, but every time!). It will always have a special place in my heart. I love the innocence of it, especially refreshing after ROTS. EP.II was the most awesome cinematic experience in my life!
I literally couldn't stand up after the movie was over, for I was in such awe, the romance, the music, the Obi Wan detective story, Tatooine, Watto, back at the Homestead, Kamino, Geonosis, Count D., the Jedi in the coloseum, the end battle, Yoda fighting, Anakin getting his hand cut off, the clones at the end, Padme taking Anakin's mechanical hand at the wedding...just about everything....classic! To me, Ep.II in some ways is like a romantic period piece in space.
I know, many of you disagree. That's fine by me. Each is one.
I am happy that I love all of them.

I agree with most everyone else. The Empire Strikes Back was the best by far. The anticipation for that movie after the fervor of Star Wars was unbelieveable, and it actually lived up to the hype!

I would rank them:

Empire Strikes Back
New Hope
Return of the Jedi
Revenge of the Sith
Attack of the Clones
Phantom Menace

Phantom Menace was so bad I almost thought about asking for my money back until that final saber duel. The best character was Ani's mom! Lucas had 20+ years to develop that story line, and that's the best he could do? Pathetic...

A New Hope is classic but Empire is where it all comes together.
