Predator (1987) (Ultimate Hunter Edition) - Blu-ray Forum

Hey guys, I've been paying attention to the development of the latest entry into the Predator series, "Predators." With this new film being released this July, do you guys think Fox will issue a new release of Predator?

I already own the previously released edition of Predator on Blu-Ray, but I'm hoping it will be re-issued with the extras included on the previous 2-disc DVD edition.

To me, it just makes sense. But what do you guys think?

I hope they DON'T because I literally just bought the first one on Blu-Ray...and I don't feel like double dipping, but my ODD with Blu-Rays would force me.

Would make most sense though to be released when Predators is released on Blu-Ray...maybe a double pack.

I hope you didn't pay too much for it. Cuz i bought the day it came out along with AVP: R at Best Buy.

Got a decent deal since I bought the two Predator movies together, but I didn't see a SE of Predator on Blu-Ray any time soon.

I think they need to make sure they keep this scene in tact.

I paid for Predator and Predator 2. I got them for a deal of $10 together. So, a decent deal, but still, would hate for there to be a re-release so soon after I bought it.

I'd only buy a re-issue if it was remastered. It's a decent upgrade from the DVD but still one of the "worst" Blu's I own, PQ wise. No complaints with the soundtrack, though.

PQ wise, it runs hot and cold.
You get scenes like in the helicopter or night in the jungle that aren't going to look good....but some of the daytime scenes looked pretty good for a 25 yr. old movie. I was surprised at how crisp some of the vegetation looked in the background.

I completely agree. Thing is, do you think Predator could be remastered enuff to where it's a significant upgrade over the current Blu-Ray?

To me, much like Aliens, this film is pretty grainy, which i don't mind at all, but it does make me wonder if it can be upgraded to a better picture.

exactly. a lot of people seem to have trouble grasping this. predator is a gritty, grimey-ass movie and there really isnt much else they can do with it without altering it (DNR/EE etc)

but i might double dip if they did re-release it with some extras as it is one of my favorite movies of all time.

I've been waiting to buy Predator on BD because I want all the special features from the 2-disc set. So if they re-release it, I hope it comes with the special features since the BD is bare bones.

I picked it up at sub $10 so if a version with tangible benefits comes along, I would rebuy and trade in the original copy, like I plan on doing with T2.

This is really the only thing that irks me about FOX's Blu-Rays. I love their PQ and AQ, but you either get a great release with awesome pic and sound and tons of extras, or you get a movie with great AQ and PQ with virtually NO extras.

Oh well, if this is all I have to complain about in my life, I know I'm doing really good LOL

The Blu looks accurate to the film stock and style of Mctiernan, who prefers heavy grain in his films. The DTS-HD track is killer.

I already own the deluxe DVD with the extras. Unless they added new features on a BD, I'm done buying Predator.

I've told myself that before, but I really think I'd like a Predator Blu-ray with tons of extras. Then, I think I'd be done... finally.

I don't mind grain at all. I just wish the colors were a bit more lush and there was more detail in faces/bodies/clothing/background. Can that be done with a total remaster?

I think it will eventually get a re-release, just not anytime soon.

Ive bought Predator on VHS, DVD, PSP/UMD, and Now. Blu..

and i still would like to get Predator 2 on Blu as well...

man the first predator blu-ray had pretty bad picture + audio quality if they can remake it for REFERENCE like quality...say like blade runner...id be so freaking happy cuz predator is my top 5 sci-fi action movie of all time.

thats not possible. the current blu-ray of predator is an accurate representation of the film. it will never look like blade runner because it never did in the first place.
