Yeah - I've replaced my entire gallery at least 5-6 times.

I also forgot to mention to you fine chaps that alas, I've settled down. Not marriage-wise, but that famous womanizer you all know and love now has only one woman in his life. Sunrise, sunset.
I've done the same JJ. I've tried to get rid of her numerous times but she's persistent. I guess in some ways I like that

Idk....I like having her around like say every other few days but she wants me all the time. After getting use to the freedom of about a year of no serious commitment it hasn't gone over well with me to some extent. It's an adjustment thing. I'm having a hard time completely opening up to her so unless that changes mine could go sour quick because there is no point in me moving on with the relationship if it isn't going to be mutual feeling wise...something like that

Ask Lou. Or get a Facebook, She's Swedish/Argentinian.

So I've been looking at all these new galleries that have propped up in my absence. There are a lot of cool new ideas out there I'd like to implement. And a lot of ideas that I seem to have inspired (at least, my ego likes to think so).

I've been wanting to make an HT Lighting for Beginners thread, but I could swear something like it already exists.

What do you guys think about this 3D thing? Something you all are planning on getting into soon? Or in the distant future?

I plead guilty.
The distant future. I saw Avatar in 3D & 2D, I prefer the 2D version. I couldn't imagine watching 3D all the time, especially with those glasses on.

3-D for me is later JJ. I want it to evolve to see what happens . I want to see if it will work or fall off & die .

I have one not so good Blu in 3-D & on the PJ is interesting , But the glasses suck IMO , That is something that would be important In my book .

I'll confer that she is a hotty. Nice looooong straight dark hair. Curves in the right places. Perfect for a nice Latino boy like JJ.

BTW, I'm totally anti-3D, but for medial reasons. They trigger my migraines.

Oh? I have? ::Looks at your gallery::

I do think it would be cool to have it, but my primary reason would be economical. Do I REALLY want to have to buy all new stuff again? No...

Plus, apparently I'm reading each brand has brand-exclusive glasses. So you can't use any but the ones they give you. And they appear to be ridiculously expensive for any extra pairs. So again, it is financial. I want to see it first. I haven't seen any of the BBs in my area have the demos up yet.

I'll let her know my fellow home theater geeks approve - she loves my passion for this hobby. If I'm setting up stuff or cleaning up, she'll help out. Plus, she loves to watch movies, so - + points for her. I really think 3D won't find its way with many of us HT Gallery thread guys. Maybe because we're more audio-concerned.

Been a long time JJ, hope school is well!

My wife and I are in "negotiations" over the 3D thing now. We'll be moving soon so we're trying to work everything out. The best part about the whole thing is that her argument is that we should get a projector instead of 3D...which is exactly what I want

"we are dumb, but we are not so dumb" ~Bill Cosby

I've been stalking amps for a bit and had to pass on exactly what I wanted... TWICE. Without going writing a short novel, I do feel there are a ton of us who are audio-centric. At least the vocal ones are

Chris! How you been?

And as far as I'm concerned, that's not even a debate - of course get the projector over the 3D! What amps were you looking at?

And personally, I have always felt that the biggest part of the HT experience is the Audio. I feel that at least 90% of us in these threads think the same. Exactly what Brent said.

You can show her I'm not some looney behind a computer screen. I actually have a family and life outside of blu-ray.

My wife is not as into it as me. She would probably be fine with a 20" CRT and VCR/DVD combo player. She won't even vacuum around the speakers because she is afraid to bump into them. I have no problem dusting and vacuuming the HT room.

Oh, that's a definite. I don't let my roommates even attempt to clean the living room. I tell them, keep your own areas clean, I'll tend to this area. Don't touch a THING outside of the remote control. Like you, I have no problem cleaning this area myself. Hell, I enjoy it, even. Twisted, in a sense. Moving everything out, then putting it all back in.

DITTO! I was more impressed with Avatar's enveloping audio than the 3D graphics. I do believe 3D will succeed, because it will be forced on us( most new TV's, BDP's & AVR's will feature it. )

What's going on buddy! Anthem amps have been high on my list, the MCA 3 to be exact. I feel like I might have typed this in here recently... hmm.. anyway, I was thinking about getting an Emotiva amp, but I'd really like something that will fit in my cabinet. Checked out some Rotel and a couple others. I definitely want to go that route. 2 channel would be great, but I do watch a ton of movies, so I decided 3 channel now, 2 channel later. Then when I have both, the 2 channel will drive the mains with the surrounds and center being handled by the 3 channel. Any entrance of rear surrounds to the setup will be handled by the AVR.

Then again, the mere mention of 3D made my wife say we should get a projector instead. Most likely I will have to wait until we move, but that only heightens the possibility for a dedicated theater room. Then any amp I get wouldn't have to fit in my cabinet. Plenty of time to keep at it, which is half the fun.

I guess the bright side of all of this is that I will get to update my pictures at some point in the next 6 months.

That's what I'm afraid of. A new receiver and new BDP aren't too much of a tall order - but I'll be damned if I get rid of my Kuro. I've grown attached.

A room all to yourself? Dedicated? Now that's something I can dream of, too. How much are those Anthem amps?

The best part is that the wife is on board with a dedicated room. She doesn't know that this will lead the the purchase of more equipment. Although it may allow me to take the Klipsch to a dedicated room for movies (where they REALLY shine) and then start all over with speakers for 2 channel

As for the amps they are pretty expensive new, but can be had for around $600 used on Audiogon. They just rarely show up, and when they do, they are sold fast.

Me too, I just can't part with the Kuro for 3D until it dies. Til death do us part with Kuros.

JJ, one thing you may want to look into if you got a little over $1000 to spend. I found this neat video processor that would get rid of Elite envy as it can add CMS and gamma adjustment. It's called AV Foundry Video EQ Pro. I can't yet afford this but it's definitely on my list of things to get and something I think any AV enthusiast with a Kuro non-Elite should look into. By the way is your set calibrated? I've done DIY grayscale calibration (the 5020FD doesn't allow anything else, no color adjustment and gamma is stuck at 2.1) on my own set and it definitely helped as the grayscale out of the box is too red.

I have some pictures in my gallery showing before and after, it's subtle but noticeable.

EDIT: Ah hell I'm bored at work, here are the pics:

You know! I had noticed, such as in I Am Legend, that it did seem a wee bit red on some dark scenes. Faintly. These examples of yours bring it out more. But for $1,000 - oof - apparently, it's not something ISF calibration could fix, eh?

I don't know, $1,000 buys me a new amp and 3 dipole surrounds...it'd be something I consider much further down the line, JK. I read the entire article - curses that Kuro's have such few modification options!

In any case, chaps, a new search has begun!

I'm still unsure if I'll be getting a new sub. I've been able to tweak placement and gain levels on my pair to the best of my abilities, rattling is gone. Bass is still tight.

But an old task of mine remains unfinished...dipole surrounds! I think I can fix at least the L and R rears to dipoles, and keep the center rear as a tower. I don't plan on timbre-matching the rears. Unless the B&W DS3s somehow fall into the $500 a pair range. Last I checked they were $350 each. But for $500ish a pair, I'm starting to check Pops' list of Dipole manufacturers. Aperion and Axiom first. Does anybody know about this Cambridge Soundworks brand? Emotiva's, perhaps? Jamo? Paradigm? Monitor? PSB? Revel? The Swans?! Argh. All these dang options.

Then go to eD for the stands...

[Show spoiler]1,000th Post!
