It is the other way around. Men tend to exaggerate with their "Night and Day Difference" comments. In most cases, the improvement is marginal at best even if the new equipment costs a few hundred dollars more.

As an example, I have 4 subwoofers in my HT room that are probably better than the subs owned by average members and yet I hear comments about how awesome their single subs are and how it rattles the entire house all the time. It gives me an inferiority complex becuase my subs are calibrated and equalized to death and don't turn my house into vapor.

Yes, dimensionally the RC-30s are small speakers. But they should have better overall range and sound then the RC-10s. I want to hear the other CF series speakers, but the 70s were just awesome. I am really thinking of getting the 70s, but I still have some other speakers to hear first.

I want to really hear the RC series as well...

So when are you going back?
I'm certainly a fan. With the exception of the MartinLogan electrostats, Jamo has always been my preferred sound. While Energy hasn't surpassed Jamo, it's a very close race. Like you though, I still have more auditioning to do.

I'd like to stop into Best Buy and listen to the 70s at some point as well. Just to see (or hear rather) what you've been talking about.

As far as going back, I'll most likely go on Thursday. The dealer said that Tuesday or Thursday would be the best day for them and it's the only day this week I'll have enough time to get over there and have time for a good demo.

Hence why I never say that there is a night and day difference, I also don't want my sub to rattle, I want it to have punch and slam, and be quick and powerful. I just put a blanket under my sub cause I am trying to get rid of a rattle or vibration when its playing... more noticable at lower volumes when there is bass then at higher volumes... I don't know if its the sub or something in the room....

Well let us, ME, know how it goes on Thursday, and if you can get to a BB with a Mag A/V in it.... I think you will like the 70s a little more then the 50s.

Really its all about what you like the best... I am just josh-in you.... but its nice to see that you are now a fan of Energys and know why it is that we like them so much.

I am not a fan of electrostats..... not my taste in sound...I don't like things that are too airy.

did you listen to the Marantz receivers? Thoughts.

There is a BB Mag store near me. I called and they have the 70s in stock and set up now, so all that's left is for me to get over there for a listen. I never doubted Energy's quality, I was slightly concerned if they would be detailed enough for my tastes as I had heard they were warmer than Jamo. Needless to say my doubts have been laid to rest.

I found the electrostats to have terrific imaging and they did wonders in 2-channel stereo. I found them to be sufficient for movies, not great, but not terrible either.

I did listen to Marantz, however I listened to a pre/pro (can't say which one, most likely the 8003), not a receiver. I enjoyed it, but I can't be sure if it was the pre or the speakers that made the most difference. I'm still not sure if the receiver plays a large part in the sound. Perhaps the next time I'm in a Mag store I need to have them flip through the different receivers so I can decide.

yea, it must have been the 8003, I don't know all their pre-pros, but I know that is the most common one.....

Im not saying Electrostats are bad..... but for my use, and the way I like the sound of my speakers to be, they wouldn't fit my style....

I take it buy what you said that Jamo is a bit more forward in the highs? My dealer here was supposed to set some up for me to listen too, but that never happened. Because Energy speakers are so linear, most people find them rather neutral, but the highs are laidback so I guess that is why people think they are warm... I think most people either think if it isn't bright then it has to be warm..... however there is Dark and Neutral. I did think that Dali and Canton were more neutral then Energy.

People always think that because the highs are laidback and the sound is neutral-warm that there is a lack of detail, however that is not true. Neutral and Warm speakers have a great amount of detail, its just the highs aren't forced upon you.

I understand about the MLs, if I was setting up a strict 2-channel only listening room, they would be very high on the short list. For a primary HT however, they would be further down the list.

I would say Jamo is a bit more forward, but not so much so as to become bright. I believe they're very comparable. I have to say as I listen to more and more speakers I'm beginning to agree with the last paragraph even more. I'm also reinforcing the kind of sound I enjoy and the kind that I don't.

I like a neutral sounding speaker. One that won't alter the sound in any way, a speaker that's easy to listen to for hours. I'm finding that the mids are most important to me, with the highs coming in a close second. Imaging and a wide sound stage is also important to me. Less important is off-axis dispersion as usually it's just myself and maybe one other person listening, so I don't have to worry about a large sweet-spot.

Perhaps it will come to that. I want to listen to as many speakers as possible before making a final choice, but the Energy's were very enjoyable. I still want to listen to the RC floorstanders as well as the CB-70s too.

Also, I used to own Sony towers just like my Energys, and all the other speakers. I can say that my wife first noticed the biggest difference in music, and quickly there after she seen that movies were so much better also. She noticed the difference right when I set them up and started listening to them.

His wife cares more about them then he does. Thats the thing, he hooked them up but touched nothing in his receiver. I told him adding speakers is not a plug a play thing.

ahhh, so he didn't run any setup or measure their distance or anything like that... Does his receiver even have auto setup.... that thing has to be 5 yrs old or more.... I have never seen a Sony receiver that looks like that one.... And I have seen a lot of them. Doing it manually may be more then he knows how to do.

U should take your tape measure and an SPL meter to his house to help him.

I need to have a good listen to the RCs too... Be on the lookout for perhaps a newer version, they release them between August and January... its been 3 going on 4 yrs since they introduced the RCs so we could see an update.

Also the Veritas should be updated and re-released this coming year too..

Hey Callas, if your around and you happen to see this, I believe I will make a blind purchase on some Energy CB 20's without even hearing them. lol.
After some reviews, and reading up to about page 17 of this thread, you guys (especially callas) have me pretty well convinced that I will like these over the Infinity p162's I've been considering.
So I guess what I'll do now is keep my eye out for a good deal online somewhere. The average cost for these pretty much across the web right now is 350. Would any of you Energy owners out there (including you callas) know of 2 or 3 online stores that I could monitor for a good deal? Do these fluctuate in price often, or should I just go all out and purchase them at 350?
Thank you guys!

I believe they have them In Magniola Stores at BB not sure if you have one in your area but they could go on special there.

If you look online maybe World wide stereo.
http://www.wwstereo.com/website/ecom...%20BLACK%20ASH

Of course this the price for 1 speaker not sure why they even post it like that since they are sold in pair. You can look for a price drop or give them a call they might give you a better deal.

Or again Vanns.

http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/it...61/energy-cb20

Then if can't find any price drop on those CB-20, I would bite the bullet and get the RC-10 at 349$.
