I'm still waiting for my Kubrick movies to arrive. I have received Eyes Wide Shut and Full Metal Jacket, but nothing else so far. The delay is probably so they can catch up in demand.

Mine have arrived. 2001 is now my favorite movie of all time again.

Except Full Metal Jacket - that is one of my five free ones for the Fall offer, so I won't see that one until next Spring sometime.

Well, its probably a more realistic release date. 2001 was supposed to be out a month ago here in the States... my pre-order has yet to arrive. Did Warner think no one would want these titles?

I ordered The Shining back on October 16 and Amazon.com finally says they shipped them on the 12th of Nov.

Hopefully it's waiting in the mail for me when I get home.

I've received A Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket & Eyes Wide Shut from AxelMusic in Europe. I spoke to them last week and they said they had no idea when 2001 & The Shining would be turning up!

Default Yes, definitely delayed for Canada

Now bestbuy.ca's website is saying Jan 29, again "estimated", for the Kubrick titles.

As for other Warner titles, the Harry Potter box set is listed as out of stock, no mention of Terminator 3, but Blade Runner is set for Dec. 18.

"Estimated."

Yesterday I cancelled my Amazon.ca order and replaced it with Amazon.com – it will ship tomorrow! After factoring in the lower US sticker price and the higher Canadian dollar, the extra shipping charges make this deal a wash.

I can’t explain the reason for the ongoing delays for the Kubrick films in Canada. It seems to me that given the limited aggregate Canadian demand for these titles (relative to the US demand), scarce supply can’t explain a 3 month delay from the original release date. Although frustrating, it is not without a solution for us avid Canadian Blu-ray consumers.

I'm not sure why anyone would ever order Blu-rays from amazon.ca - especially if ordering more than 1 title. Amazon.com is cheaper is almost every single case.

It's funny you know. Does no one actually see that there is a problem here? I've been seeing threads like this for sometime... actually everytime Warner f**ks a release date and I keep reading the same thing: just get them off of Amazon.

That's not the point folks.

The point is, Warner needs to get thier shit together. Now. I know that I can simply buy them form Amazon or one of many online sources but I shouldn't have to. Why can't I walk into a B&M store, on release day, and pick up the titles I want?; every other Blu-ray supporting studio allows me to do this.

It's at a point now that I could even care less that Warner is releasing on Blu-ray; because really... are they? Does anyone - and to be fair, this is mostly skewed to my fellow Canadians - really expect to walk into a B&M store on Nov 27th and pick up The Omega Man?; 'cause I sure don't. Jesus, I'm not so sure we'll even see Harry Potter or Blade Runner on store shelves on release day.

But do you want to know what the funniest thing is? I see all of their releases, in store, on HD DVD every week! Hell my local Futureshop is waist deep in all the Kubrick titles on HD DVD and have been since release day.

I'm wondering, is Warner Bros. really neutral? OR are they just blowing sunshine up all of our asses while they gear up to announce HD DVD exclusivity at January's CES?

Yes it is frustrating that they don't seem to have them in stock in Canadian stores but it isn't like I would buy it there even if they did due to the crazy Canadian prices on Blu-ray movies.

If you're inferring that Warner will drop BD in January on the ground of slower-than-expected distribution of Stanley Kubrick titles in Canada, that would be totally unreasonable.

In Europe 2001 and Eyes wide shut are available in stores (I really like the European coverart for eyes wide shut). The better; I went to three stores, and they only got them in Blu!
