I hope dearly that no-one pays to see Let Me In in the theaters and tells all their friends that want to see it to just watch the original instead and from here on out keep people from giving money to hack directors who cant come up with their own ideas and are ruining already great pieces of art
I use to agree with you. Hollywood is churning out to many remakes but it is something that has been going on for a very very long time. Without remakes, we would not have some great films.

The thing (1982)
Cape Fear (1991)
Dracula (1992)
The Fly (1986)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
Scarface (1983)

Here are 6 films that most people would agree are good films, even though the original was already good if not great. There are lots of other examples as well. I have come to the conclusion over the last few years to forget about a film as a remake and just go and see it as if it was an original work. How can you tell if Let me In is going to be a worse film than the original unless you go and see it. I liked the original but am will to sit through the remake.
