Clash of the Titans got the worst reviews of all time for a 3D conversion, however, with the Polar Express and a few other movies coming out on the 16th of november it is at least a step in the right direction with regards to the exclusive deals. I'm excited!

Problem is a bad conversion does the same thing for 3D that anaglyphs do. They do nothing but leave a bad taste in people mouths are hurt the 3D lable. Personally Id rather have less content then more content that will embarrass the young 3D tech. |

Thats good to hear if its true. My point is if Clash is simply slapping the theatrical 3D presentation onto Blu-Ray 3D it would actually be a negative for the format. Ill wait to read reviews of the American version of this disc and see if it corrects issues present in its theatrical print.

I saw it in the theater and it was unbearable. I bought the 3D Blu from Germany, and on my 58" Panasonic, it's still really bad. It's better, but it's still really bad. It's extremely easy to tell how rushed the conversion was. Plus, when you view it flattened to 2D using the 3D disc, you can see halos around objects that are in fast motion, due to the rotoscoping required for a 3D conversion. It's a good thing they kept the 2D disc separately for this release.
For a native 3D production, watching it downconverted to 2D is fine, but these conversions...whoo...they really mess with the original image for both eyes. |

the only decent 3D on the CotT 3DBRD is the opening sequence. the rest is, unfortunately, still pretty awful.

Im wondering why on Earth Warner would release this in its first wave of 3D titles instead of Journey to the Center of the Earth. I know Journey to the Center of the Earth wasn't that great of a movie either. However it was the first full length movie shot with native digital 3D cameras and it delievers in its 3D presentation. Clash of the Titans is maybe a slightly better movie but it delievered a presentation that has become synomous with "BAD 3D." n Warner should have held back this title until it can be released in a 3D presentation equaling proper conversions like The Nightmare Before Christmas or Alice in Wonderland.

Still, as others on this post have said, 3D content(no matter how bad) is better than no 3D content. That said, I'm eagerly awaiting another 3D conversion(admittedly one that was filmed specifically with 3D in mind) and that's Tim Burton's vision of 'Alice in Wonderland'. If the 3D trailer I saw for it on the Disney 3D Showcase disc is anything to go by the whole film should be awesome! ![]() Anyway, that's my opinion. John. |

I disagree. If someone wants everything in 3D turn on one of those silly real-time converters. However the Blu-Ray 3D standard should be a sign of quality. Id rather watch 2D then a substandard 3D conversion anyday. Bad conversions like Clash of the Titans hurt the Blu-Ray 3D brand and in my opinion slow the growth of the format just like anaglyph releases do.

I disagree. It likely only seemed that way due to the size of the screen makes the flaws more apparent. As bad as Clash of the Titans was it easily surpassed even at its worst moments anything Ive seen from a real-time converter.

A bit off-topic, but the converters from what I've seen on my new Samsung are great for PS3 games. Both Borderlands and God of War 3 show off some great depth.
