[Show spoiler] As for me, I'm not personally ready to jump on the 3D bandwagon just yet. The current 2D release is fine by me for now, although expect it to go OOP when this one hits. |

The 2D video quality of this 3D disk blows away the previously released 2D version. It is worth getting even for the 2D version.

I wasn't going to buy Monster House because it didn't have Spanish audio and I noticed the 3D version has the Spanish audio. By the way, I'm trying to learn Spanish so I thought I would only buy movies with Spanish audio included.

Had a weird as hell experience with the film.
When I got the disk a few months ago and tried it out with Total Media Theater 3 (with the latest 3-D Blu-Ray patch, so it should have worked fine) the picture I was getting was very weird, a lack of textures, the grain filter effect, everything looked polygonal and kind of like a videogame, like a high polygon and top shelf animation version of some cash in kids games. I was really disappointed. I tried it again last night with TMT 5 (same video card) and all the textures and the grain filter are there and it looks fantastic and blows the old disk out of the water. I've never heard of movie playing software (or even a video card) flat out rendering a film differently like what happened to me before, that's more along the lines of how videocards work with different games. |

Looking for more opinions on the old 2D video encode versus the new 2D one on the 3D release than what's already been said. Here I'm reading the new one's better, whereas in this AVS Forum thread folks are saying there's really no difference.
Wondering 'cos I just picked up the old release for less than 8 bucks and if there's no big difference, I'll stick with what I have, but if there's a strong difference, I'll take it back and pay the higher price for a better presentation. It'd be awesome if I could see screencap comparisons. Blu-ray.com sadly doesn't repeat any of the same frames over the two releases, and also I've noticed that older Blu-ray.com caps look...kinda junky compared to most of their current ones, so you couldn't accurately compare even if they did take similar frame grabs. |

Interestingly, the opening credits on the 2D version of the 3D release start off dim, then light up about a second later. This is the first time I've seen this on any copy of MH I've seen. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
