Joss Whedon responds to Buffy news. I find it funny how he is doing the same exact thing with the Avengers that they are doing with Buffy. Taking 2 old franchises and giving them a new storyline for the big screen yet he thinks he's not doing that at all.

Its not really the same thing though. He's doing a comic book adaption of a world famous comic, this is a reboot made to cash in on Twilight mania. And The Avengers has NEVER been a movie or TV show so it's not a reboot at all

I know I just meant he was acting like the Avengers is an all new never before thought of idea while it's not. I do get that they aren't the same as like you said Avengers has never been done before and it's not a reboot while Buffy is. I do wonder how this will go against the vampire craze though as Buffy kills vampires and right now the vampire mania is all about teen vampires falling in love.

It's obviously going to be about her falling for a vampire and fighting the urge to kill him even though she knows she should. See that's the whole story right there! Where's my paycheck WB?

Yeah I don't know anything about the writer but I do have a feeling we will be getting a love story in there somewhere. I just hope it turns out to be good and not an all out supernatural comedy but more of like what the show was.

I would like to see Buffy's origin redone...by Joss.

This whole thing is messed up, but honestly, it seems like Joss's fault. I bet if he really wanted to, he could've got all the rights to Buffy back a long time ago.

Yeah if he wanted to he could have gotten the rights and made a movie based on the TV show and done it his way. Since he said no we are now getting a reboot movie instead.

I thought he tried and was denied by WB to make a sequel TV movie or something at one point? Hence the season 8 comic

Last I read was that he was interested but never pursued it further. Hence why we are getting someone else to give us a reboot.

I never watched the show so I know nothing about it except for who was in it and who created it. But I just think they shouldn't take a good thing and try to re-do/re-make/re-boot it. The show ended years ago so it's not like Spiderman where they messed up the last movie and had some problems with the actors/director and decided to start all over.
