The remake is pretty good and definitely holds its own against the original. Well, right up until the end, anyway.

Since you haven't seen either I won't go into detail but I will say the rewrite probably wasn't Nolan's fault. For all the countless billions we spend devouring violence and sex American sensiblities can be ridiculously delicate when it comes to moral ambiguity.

Not that I would be able to search out $150 worth of stuff to buy..... but the fact that pre-orders don't count makes it virtually impossible for me to spend $150 with them (at least justifiably) I like some of the art prints, but not enough to spend that kind of money, especially since the wife would kill me.

Also, why does reviewers on this site bold reviews like Avatar and Inception? I mean, I know why, but I want to hear them say why.

The reviewers actually have no control over this. Bold titles are top sellers--it's as simple as that.

If you have a region free blu-ray player...Masters of Cinema has a BD version of The Burmese Harp. They did a spectactular job on it!

I would hope that Criterion would eventually release it on blu, for all region A fans to enjoy. I think that it's a very important film.

I love that Criterion usually upgrades their bonus features to 1080i, ESP the VIDEODROME trailers.

The commentary is pretty informative and Giddens does a pretty good job. He's made appearances on other supplements, most notably on MoC's "Make Way For Tomorrow".

Yeah...Tim Carey is a pretty intense guy...but supposedly very difficult to work with. He was "fired" before "Paths" was completed, so a "double" was used in a few scenes, where there is no dialogue, but a shot of his character was needed.

Carey kept busy after "Paths" and appears in "Head" in another of his "off the wall" character roles.
