Exclamation Does the PS3 reads homemade Blu-rays??

Can the Ps3 60gb edition, read Jpegs from a burned Blu-Ray disc?

Actually I have a Mac Pro and was going to make the move to buy a External LaCie d2 Blu-ray Drive, but first i went to a Sony store and ask an employee if the console could recognize jpgs burned onto a Blu-ray disc, he didn't know and so did everyone in the store, he then made a call to sony support line and they didn't know ether.

Need help on this please,

Out of curiosity, why would you put pictures on a 50 GB disc?

I know this works with a DVD, I've imported many pictures from DVD's to my PS3. So it should work the same with a BD.

I have a photography company and some contracts generate lots of pictures.
The camera I currently work with [Canon 1ds MarkIII] is 21megapixels so a 50gb disc is only about 2000 pictures.
And on a purely practical stand, making back-up's on a base of 50gb vs 4,7gb.
This is no a hard decision.

Default Won't read VC-1???

In addition to homemade Blu-rays, is it also a rumor that the PS3 will not read VC-1 encoded Blu-ray movies?

I see now.

I'm pretty sure buring the photos to a BD would work, it works with a DVD, so it should work with a BD.

Untrue! Go away troll! Most Warner movies are VC-1 and they all play wonderfully on my PS3. This is not now and never was an issue.

why did you have to go and call him a troll, that is ridiculous. he didn't make a statement about something, he said it was a RUMOR he heard. He's new, why don't you try to help him out and make another blu solider and explain something to him, other than call him a troll and possible turn him away from the format. look at his post history, he is not a troll.

Sorry, but that is usually what trolls tend to do. Someone with 10 posts to their account posts something like "I couldnt find Transformers on Blu" just to get everyone worked up.

www.blu-raystats.com

note the large number of VC-1 encoded discs.

As for homemade movies.....
as a data drive it should work fine... but I have never tried it so you will have to tell us. As a movie player it should be able to play a home made movie... but the question arises, how does the BD-watermark fit into this?
If your homemade movie does not have a BD-watermark how can you ever watch it? If it does, how is that helping to protect against illegal copies of BD movies?

I definitely want to watch my own home made HD movies on a homemade Blu-ray disc on my PS3! I will just have to try it out when I buy a BD burner sometime next year.

I just checked my ps3 box and yes it does say that ps3 supports BD-ROM, BD-R AND BD-RE. So, you should be able to burn a BD-R and be able to play it back on the ultimate system.
