Last film I rented was 'The Men Who Stare at Goats' glad I only rented, it's one of the worst films I've ever watched.

TBH, if it's something that I'm not 100% sure about I wait until it reaches the £5-6.99 mark. At that price regret don't come into it really.

I watched that on BBC's iPlayer around Christmas time, I thought it was okay. It should have been a classic with that great cast.

I get DVD's from my local library but I've yet to rent any Blu-rays. I think my nearest Blockbuster is miles away.

Quite a few lately….but I borrow from a buddy who gets everything.

Some of the more recent ones:

127 Hours
Nightmare on Elm St (2010)
Buried

All good movies, they just don’t hold a lot of replay value for me.

Slightly different to what your asking but I'm glad I watched The Walking Dead Premier on 5HD last night rather than buying the boxset for £25+. It was really well shot and quite tense in parts but it would be something I watch once and then lend out. I will be watching the rest of the series on TV, but will hold off buying unless a 2nd series is commissioned which expands on the series, and the whole boxset is then listed at a reduced price.

As for new films : I'm really not getting chance to rent any let alone buy as in the next few months there are so many classics which I must own that I can't afford to buy anything else - and I only bought a region free player a few weeks ago but can't afford the US discs on top of the UK pre-orders.

lol I haven't seen 22 Bullets, Lebanon or The Illusionist (and would happily pay NOT to see Grown Ups), but I love the other titles you mentioned.

I'm glad I saw Shutter Island before buying, because I was very disappointed with that, after all the hype.

I rarely rent movies, but I'm glad I watched The Usual Suspects before I blind bought it.

Most overrated movie of all time, hands down. Nothing comes close. I don't even consider it a good movie.

I wonder which The Illusionist they mean I loved the Edward Norton one probably more the The Prestige (the characters were so awful they were as bad as eachother), it was quite good.

I haven't seen the animated one.

I loved Kevin James in The King of Queens which was the main reason why I decided to give Grown-ups a go...but yeah it sucked

Have rectified this now in my original post - I meant the 2010 animated one. I loved the first film by the same director - Belleville Rendez-vous - but I found The Illusionist quite boring. Even at only 76 mins it seemed long

Bad Lieutenant, the Nicholas Cage version. Only rented it because pretty much every critic gave it a rave review. It was okay, but not the one of the greatest films of the decade.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I always say that if you don't like a movie first time round, then wait a while and watch it again. Although there are many out there that don't deserve this advice, and Benjamin Button is one of them.

Others were; Batman and the Bourne trilogy. Great films but I rented them to see whether they were worth the upgrade, thankfully they weren't.

Compared to the first it was dreadful. All those new characters I was PRAYING would die as soon as they were introduced. That sheriff was the most insanely cliche character ever.

I bought Grilled on DVD the film with Ray Romano and Kevin James. They play door to door meat salesman. That's not a euphemism either, they actual go door to door and sell meat. Like "Madam would you like some pork? It's the meat of the month, plus you can eat steak everyday for $129.99 a month!"
I regret to this day and will regret it for the rest of my life. Biggest waste of £1.00 EVER! It makes Paul Blart Mall Cop seem like Die Hard and it was actually trying to be like Die Hard....
