That's a trailer for the TE![/QUOTE] The first trailer for the Triology??? appears to be quite old. The newer trailer has the tint. |

Sad. Thought we might be on to something.
Still... The iTunes Digital Copy of THE LOTR FOTR EE does not have the tint. Which, in and of itself points to an issue with the authoring of all the media surrounding the release of the FOTR EE. So... Therein lies the issue. |

It still points to an issue, nonetheless. |

Fair Enough. I actually look forward to your findings. No issue with you, I just think we need to be careful how "broad" we make some statements. By doing that we shouldn't have a recurrence of what transpired several pages ago.

![]() If there is any chance that PJ did not approve of the green-tint, etc, this discussion is well-worth the effort. We all deserve the best transfer of these films IMVHO. How many of us have already bought the TE DVDs, EE DVDs, TE Blus, and EE Blus already?!?! Many ![]() |

I decided to view the iTunes digital copies on my television one more time over the weekend and I think it's pretty clear, 100%, that the iTunes digital copies are from the old DVD EE masters. To me, it's unmistakable. It's not even up for debate any longer.
As much as I really, really love the new look of the Fellowship EE, something happened during the process to remaster that film. Honestly, I wouldn't have a single complaint at all with the new color timing, if it weren't for the subtitles. To me, that's the smoking gun. The subtitles have a green tint to them. If they were pure white, as they use to me, I wouldn't complain one bit about the new color timing on the Fellowship EE. |

I want to see if the Windows Media Digital Copy suffers from this green-tint all the way through. If it only have evidence of re-grading in some scenes, then I think we can safely say the green-tint on the Blu was somehow a mistake in authoring. The investigation continues ![]() |

No, WB went cheap and gave iTunes the DVD EE masters. The Fellowship EE digital copy is the DVD EE master. The Council of Elrond is also the smoking gun.
Having viewed both the digital copy version and the DVD version this morning, they're identical, 100%. |

Threads in this forum with a passionate fan base like LOTR and Star Wars have been closed and re-opened. Easy to go through and moderate a closed thread to clean out all the garbage than tackling a live thread. Especially, the way these two threads grow. You can have 5 pages in 10 minutes or less.

Watched the first disc of the TT last night and was very impressed overall. Quite a difference not having a constant distracting green tint popping up. Skies, snow, hair, skin tones, fire, etc.....looked right again to my eyes without the ugly green impacting the scene and various elements. Fellowship looks a bit out of place in comparison with the constant tint and has me more convinced than ever that this was a mistake.....the TT picture just had more life and impact as if the mute had been removed.
I really want to see FOTR in all its glory without the tint! ![]() Last edited by Todd Smith; 07-04-2011 at 12:22 PM. |
