I doubt there's any difference in video because the old HDDVD (there were 2 in fact HDDVD-DVD Combo + HDDVD) were single sided -have Warner went back and redone it for Blu-ray? I reckon not. There's also Blu-ray Steelbooks which also look to be a direct port.

The UK Blu-ray is fab http://www.dvdtherapy.com/review_info.php?id=1915 I own the HDDVD and see no difference to my UK Blu-ray.

What all the HD discs are missing though is the "Scorsese On Scorsese" (85 minutes) documentary which is on the US 2 disc DVD. This doesn't seem to be on any of the other 2 discers (including the DVD Steelbooks).

Get the cheapest/nicest looking packaging. I have the $2 HDDVD, the £3 DVD Steelbook, the $3 2DVDSE and the £5 UK Blu-ray. I've got all bases covered and it was cheap

£5.99 at Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000PC1MNM and HMV http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProduct...;-1&sku=611096 isn't too shabby.

It's hard to fault.

I'd give it the same rating as the review on here.

Bitratewise the US is 22, UK 19 and Germany 17mbps. I haven't seen the discs but I doubt there's a huge difference video qualitywise.

On reflection the HDDVD must have been different as single sided discs were 15GB. These HDDVD Combos were 'flipper' discs.

Worth remembering too the US and UK Blu-rays will be AB (although the UK disc is marked "B" -but I just checked it and it's fine on an A machine).

Having just had a look at my discs I can see no difference video wise.

I'd just go for the UK version if I were buying now.

The video bitrate on the UK version is actually slightly higher (the higher overall bitrate on the US disc is due to the uncompressed LPCM track). But I seem to recall comparing the releases some time ago and the differences were not significant.

Only just ordered the US version a few days ago and now I see this thread. Is the UK version so much better?

DE - 14.97 Mbps - Same encode as US but no lossless / uncompressed audio. Good old Warner.

I echo this sentiment, I personally think it is a high quality transfer

I can only speak for PQ as I do not possess the required knowledge or equipment to properly assess AQ
