Good/successful movies are the only movies that Hollywood has any interest in remaking. The idea is to make money off of an idea that has already worked. Remaking a movie that sucked wouldn't make sense.

You may have come up with a good thread idea though if it doesn't exist already. Movies that sucked, but could be good if remade the right way.

Now that I agree with! And there are a lot more stinkers than that! But I like to stay optimistic because of those rare gems that creep up out of nowhere once in a while (like True Grit!).

Well, whether a movie is "crappy" or not is a matter of opinion and there are always exceptions to the rule. The measure of success doesn't end at the box office either. A movie that later becomes successful on DVD/Blu-Ray is also a candidate for a remake. Just look at all the "cult" movies that have straight to dvd sequels.
