Definitely worth the purchase, all in one place and in HD all lovely and spruced up, I even like the changes.
The only downside, loading times, I need a newer player.

From the perspective of someone who hasn't already bought or pre-ordered it:

I won't deny that I was a bit excited, but I also can't deny that I'm disappointed that this release seems not to be everything that was promised.

So I've decided to hold off for a while. I've got all six of the flicks on DVD, and I've also now got a kind of vicarious post-coital depression from all the hype. So I think I'm going to wait, let all the fallout and disappointments and nit-picking roll past, and see where the prices go between now and Christmas.

At least it wasn't just me who was seeing things, yea and I saw it in the Chancelors Office as well. And I had my Pioneer Surround on Vol.20 and Episode 1 was loud enough even for 2 but I think 3 was slightly quieter or I just became slightly deaf at that point or just didn't notice it. Yea I agree Episode 1 for me was the colours and a lot of details that I have never seen before.

Just been literally blown away by ROTS.

That opening battle sequence is stunning in HD. And I have to say it's worth buying the set to see R2-D2 kick some droid butt alone.

I only have stereo speakers so to enjoy it the sound at it's best, I donned some headphones and turned up the volume to just below distortion levels.

WOW. Never noticed the different paced heartbeats during the Vader creation / Padme death scene - deep and fast vs light and slow.

As for the first two - PQ on TPM was a bit Meh at times. Looked like Lucas had gone to Madame Tussauds and brought a Liam Neeson waxwork to life. CGI looked great - Jar Jar looked fantastic as did Watto.

AOTC was better, not so much wax due to the digital filming.

On to the OT ... can't wait - already watched the opening crawl and seemingly endless spaceship which checking the discs out.

Was rather underwhelmed by the extras for the PT - the interviews aren't interviews as such. One was just Ewan McGregor talking about going to see Uncle Denis (Wedge Antilles) in Star Wars when he was a kid.

Glad I managed to keep hold of Empire of Dreams if this is what the extras for the OT are like.

Hi all,

I picked up my copy of this BD yesterday in South Africa. When I play them I am only getting lossy DTS 6.1 English default soundtrack at 768 bitrate.

The weird thing is when I go though the different audio options on the disk there is a German DTS-HD MA 5.1 soundtrack.

I just wanted to confirm if you guys in the UK are getting a default English DTS-HD MA 6.1 soundtrack?

Thanks

I prefer the UK packaging personally. The discs have art and instead of cardboard sleeves the UK has a digistack case which protects the discs better and won't fall apart like the US cardboard one.

You seem to have the "German version" in South Africa which has only German HD audio and the original English audio is only lossy. While in the UK and the US the English track is HD audio.

Thanks, I thought as much The bos of the box indicates that you get a english DTS-HD 6.1 soundtrack so they basically lying!

I am going to return the set as one of the main reasons to get the blu-rays is so you get DTS-HD 6.1 sound!

Cheers

If I ever pick up the set it will be the UK release, few reasons; the card sleeves holding the discs is just asking for trouble (also makes it look like a baby book with the 5 or 6 cardboard pages ), the disc art and of course the cost.

Yeah there were quite a few spikes, but anyway this was definatly worth waiting all those years. This is the best looking Blu-ray ever imo, I put it up there with Casino Royale, Avatar, Transformers, POTC (the first 3). This is certainly the disc to show off HD, ROTS is my favourite film (along side Goldeneye and POTC1) and I didn't expect the PQ to dissapoint.

PQ 5/5
AQ 5/5 unfortunatly I watch my films without surround sound but when I put headphones on it sounds amazing.

I watched The Phantom Menance blu-ray last night, and I think I enjoyed it. I'd seen it twice before, the original cinema release and towards the end of 2008 when the last box sets of each trilogy came out. There's something about it being Star Wars that makes it really hard to judge on it's own. I think it would benefit from cutting out the Gungans entirely, found most of the stuff with them pretty boring, but the opening act on the trade federation ship, the pod racing and everything with Darth Maul was excellent! Overall I don't think it's actually the bad... just suffered from the monumental hype (and yes, I know this has been said a billion times before).

I think I'm gonna watch Episode II and III, then maybe try and play through The Force Unleashed (bought it cheap about 2 years ago and never played it) before watching the Original Trilogy.

What if we don't have 6.1 Surround sound?

Is there a way we can choose to watch it in 5.1 or 2.0?

I think your system will automatically downsample it to 5.1

Even George knows not to mess with that. That's why they added the "Take over" dialogue ages ago - can't remember whether it was in the original

Yes, along with the comedic "doink" sound when he hits it!

I've watched the Phantom menace on tuesday night, Attack of the clones and Revenge of the sith last night and I'm currently deciding if I go straight on to the old movies or dive into the extras before them.

Its lovely seeing the movies again
