How does the PQ and AQ compare to the Australian release?

The UK/Aus/Euro release was MPEG-2. This new release is AVC. Because of that alone it will probably look slightly better by default, but I suspect it may not be the sort of difference that would be particularly noticeable in motion. I'm hoping caps-a-holic will get around to a comparison.

People had been saying that the transfer for this was great, I don't get why this guy only gave a 3.5 to the picture and only a 4.0 to the audio...

No offense to whoever this Brian Omdorf is, but he must be new since he hasn't reviewed much here. I'm going to disregard it. In terms of the reviewers I see on this website, I seem to agree most with Martin Liebman. It's a shame he didn't review it instead. I will look around for other reviews then to get a second opinion since users on forums were saying that the Blu-Ray looked and sounded fantastic...

hmm.. I have the Aus double pack and might consider 'upgrading' to this BD50 version even though im sure the picture quality difference will be extremely minor (UK and Aus looks fantastic for a 25gb).

can anyone do a BDInfo scan of this US release? just wondering if the 50min docco takes up much space away from the actual film.

The PQ on the UK release is fantastic even if its only MPEG2. I will not upgrade because the UK release is already top notch. Just read any reviews they agree

Almost done HalloweeN 2 and then I get to finally watch this. I've been waiting FOREVER to see this movie again but held it off since I wanted to wait for it in HD.

Not to sound like a jerk, but the review on this site is a joke. The guy gives the PQ a 3.5, but he doesn't even give any reasons why he landed on that particular score. Personally, I wouldn't give it anything less than 4.5.

+1

I thought the PQ was astounding and much better than I expected for this release. I was definitely pleased.

lol i think i will, but w/out canceling any orders (and if i have to, Bad Teacher is gone). Ill just pay off Horrible Bosses next week. And use the rest of the money from paying of Scream 4 on this.

Im buying the 2 disc set... anyone know if its just the 2 discs in one case etc.

Awesome pq. I'm early into the film right now..... I'm so glad I waited and didn't buy the UK boxed set.

Oh god, Brian Orndorf is writing for this site now? I disagreed with 99% of what he said when he was writing for dvdtalk.

i agree with you, many scores are not corret for example the orignal nightmare on elm street recieves four stars which i feel deservs five as the pq is perfect. another one is final destination which looked horrible was given a four for its pq which i thinks is a joke.

I was not able to find this at my local walmart this week end so it looks like for $4 more I will pick up the two pack even though part 2 is not all that good. IMO it may be bad but I was entertained by Hills have eyes 2..I am sure the PQ is great for the first hills movie I agree that the review on this site seems off...Lets hope this guy is not the one to review the Jurassic Park set
