I have the Blu-Ray of DDA and it works fine on my PS3. This might seem a bit daft, but it's worth asking the question:
For the first few minutes of the movie there is no dialogue in the audio, just background noise. The camera follows Pacino et al as they speak, but no speech is heard until they're inside the bank. It's possible that in foreign language dubbed versions they have dropped in dialogue that isn't in the English version. The reason I point this out is that Dog Day Afternoon was the first DVD I got years ago with my first player, and I thought there was a problem because the dialogue seemed to be missing. As it's a mono track, it's not like there's an additional layer of audio that's missing, as could happen with a 5.1 mix. If you can hear background noise, then the audio track is there. It would be very, very strange for one (or even a batch) of discs to slip through with missing dialogue when there's only one audio track to start with. Did you hear the Elton John song over the montage sequence at the start? Failing that, yep, get on the blower to Warner. |
