I've only been able to see the not-to-good AVP movies; which I like, but they don't hold a candle to Scott's or Cameron's films.

Do you know that for certain? Do you have a source? Admitedly, I haven't read every article or kept up with every press release on this movie, but I can't recall ever hearing that there definitely will NOT be an alien (xenomorph) in this movie.

Understandable...definitely smart on their part not to put ALIEN in the title of the film.

That was better than The Dark Knight Rises teaser and trailer combined

And from what I saw, Yes this is indeed an Alien Prequel. I know I saw
