IMO, they have released something big every month this year so far.

I'm really liking our eventual chances on this one. Not only is Sony farming out some fairly notable titles but with regard to In a Lonely Place specifically somebody posted (Yami, maybe?) that somebody from Twilight Time said they couldn't get it because it had already been slotted to another distributor.
I could certainly (read: happily) live with it being Kino or Eureka but it would be such a perfect fit and I would really like for it to get the extra attention. Last edited by octagon; 03-08-2012 at 01:24 AM. |

Depends on your taste/perception of "major" of course, but it would be hard to say that none of Belle de Jour, Godzilla and Traffic were "major". Same goes for Anatomy of a Murder and World on a Wire, The Last Temptation of Christ, A Night to Remember, and a David Lean box set, Late Spring, or the two Bergmans, Being John Malkovich and Certified Copy.
April is the easiest case, but I think you'll have a hard time arguing that there is a month on the 2012 release schedule without a major release using anything other than a pretty silly definition of "major". |

They still have the rights to it. I watched it on Hulu not to long ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I would love an upgrade but who knows. There hasn't been any hints for it so whether they decide to upgrade it any time soon is kinda up in air.

![]() Maybe it's a metaphor? For how much of Paramount's catalogue the studio will take to Blu...and how much will get swallowed up by Criterion?

Either Criterion is too mainstream, or too obscure, just because they're not updating certain "heavy hitting" titles quick enough. Of course, my definition of a heavy hitter greatly varies from the rest of this thread.Quote:

Hope you enjoy it. Taxi Driver is my overall favorite, but Last Temptation is his most emotionally moving and thoughtful film.

Well this probably means there are <10 releases you would consider major. Not having one of those over a 5 month period seems pretty normal. Especially since they did have at least one of those late last year.
