It will be very similar to TDK's numbers.
I'm expecting more than TDK numbers to be quite honest. Avengers has made people hungry and i think spidy will hopefully keep that hunger going and then when TDKR kicks in, they will be at fever pitch

I'm not really sure about better numbers than TDK. I think TDK got a lot of publicity because of Heath Ledger's death. I think without Heath this time, it might not do as good. But I guess it could pick up that slack by being the "Conclusion".

I just think it will do very similar to TDK. And if it does better, it won't be by much. But I'm not afraid to be proven wrong.

I expect it to do the better than TDK.I mean who walked out of TDK and thought "thats crap,i wont see a sequel if there is one"???

Then you have to think of the people who saw it after the release, through blu ray,dvd and tv.

I think the following it has gained over the last 4 years should make TDKR more money than TDK.

I think thats a somewhat unfair comment because alive or dead, that would not have taken away from his performance at all. If you look at it, it wasn't his last performance at all. His partial finished performance was in Dr Imaginarium? and that got barely any coverage despit Depp & Colin Farrell finishing off his scenes.

I think this will do much better than TDK did but it's all about almost diminishing returns much like a car when it reaches over a certain speed barrier. It's like the momentum needed to continue is much the same as launching a rocket ship into space, the push needed is massive. The demands here and there. This will easily do better if it is as good a movie or better than TDK

I read a lots of DC Comics, and everytime BM fights SM, Batman is the "winner". Bruce is smart, and he kept many kryptonite pieces from all the species (green, red, black...) and he made a ring with green kryptonite (and it's always in his utility belt, protected by a Lead box. When he wears it and punch SM, Superman is downgraded to a human fighter, and Batman can beat him. In another comics, it was funny because Superman loose his powers and Batman obtain them. Batman almost kills himself trying to save Gotham non stop with his new powers, loosing contact with the people he loves and becoming a non-sleeping war machine!!!

The only reason Batman every "wins" a fight with Superman is because Superman holds back. Superman could kill Batman from 10 miles away if he wanted to.

$182.5 million opening weekend, $630 million final total since it will have virtually no competition for quite awhile. Guessing about $1.4 billion worldwide.

My comment was mostly in jest to the Avengers lol. I know in the comics Batman has beaten Superman but in a pure fight 1 on 1 Superman would win easily. Besides, i'm sure i remember reading it was Superman himself who have Batman the kryptonite ring.

[Show spoiler]
If Avengers released a extended cut into cinemas after the home thetre release i think it might get close and topple that number. The biggest thing holding back TDKR from smashing records was really the lack of 3D tbh. I don't know why he's quite against it, especially if he managed to do a native and coverted combination just like Cameron did, i would have almost no doubt this would trounce Avengers assuming it was just as good in quality as TDK or heck, even a notch above like we're all hoping.

Regardless of numbers though, Superhero fans have had the biggest damn fun since ever. Marvel now has a MCU thats already had it's Phase I and kicking into Phase II, DC has given us Nolan's Batman trilogy while we also had to contend with Green Lantern but i'd still rather watch Green Lantern than probably most early Marvel movies tbh and we'll be getting Man of Steel which hopefully sets up into a DCMU (DC movie universe) alongside GL.

Then we have also had Sony reboot Spiderman which i think is getting a bit of unfair criticism in some areas because when compared to its counterpart, some may think it's a helluva better first movie.

So, we now reach a truly golden era of superhero movies and it's just beginning to hot up. Can you imagine seeing all the superhero titles grouped right in the top 20

I think TDKR may crack the 10 box office worldwide figure.
Avatar's re-release only brought in around $10M...the massive bulk of its gross was from its original release.

Its got Total Recall and Bourne Legacy both within 3 weeks of its release.

Neither will be giant movies, but they both go for roughly the same demographic (give or take a bit).

Lots of people on the internet said it was too much like HEAT or a Micheal Mann movie with funny costumes. So those people...

I don't see the comparison tbh. It may have elements of a mix of different movies and HEAT was an awesome movie so why complain about the influence?

Besides, HEAT didn't have anything in common with the themes or way it was carried out for the most part. The bank scene, there was a complete lack of a shootout so there goes the first comparison, secondly they had no character like the Joker in there and there wasn't a lot of the elements.

I always take comparisons to other movies with a pinch of salt and when i see them i can decide how much of that comparison is valid. In this case, i don't think it's much of a comparison at all tbh.

Sequels tend to be front-loaded at the box office. Expect bigger totals upfront with a quicker decline. It's going to make a strong play for $200 million on the opening weekend, depending on the marketing campaign.
