it's still in the pipeline. They had to do more work on it.

Wrong. I really hope you didn't convince anyone to wait to reserve a copy.

I convinced myself... Does that count? I saw the writing on the wall come Saturday, as I'm sure anyone else who was "convinced" by my post did.

Oh, sorry, here's exactly how they put it in their facebook page:

"We do not have 16 x 9 elements in the U.S...."

Since the 16x9 version does exist in Europe (the German release I mentioned), I don't see any reason why they couldn't use that one. So i guessed that they don't have the rights for the widescreen version.

They should put out Best of the Best, that way I'll probably be the only one to buy one

I was trying to think of any Fox horror titles (post 1980) that could get the TT treatment. They already put out The Fly, and The Entity went to Anchor Bay. Shout Factory got Terror Train (and Bad Dreams/Visiting Hours, but that's dvd only). The only other one that really sticks out: Lake Placid (1999). Fox doesn't seem too interested in releasing it themselves, so let's make it happen TT...

Well, not the '58 original Seymour. Just a few months ago, many of us were speculating that this would be the horror title they'd be doing this Fall.

One possibility from Fox that rarely gets mentioned is The Legend of Hell House. And of course there's DiPalma's The Fury or Hammer's The Nanny. If TT really wanted to dig deep into the Fox catalogue, what about Dragonwyck? Or one of my favourite ghost stories, Jack Clayton's The Innocents?

But I guess you were thinking more about 80s Fox horror. Unfortunately, not a lot of 'neglected' genre titles come to mind from that period.

I hope you get a Region A friendly release at some point. The BFI release is fantastic. A lot of people think old horror films, especially black and white ones, just aren't scary today. But there are some moments in The Innocents that scared the living crap out of me! I could barely move afterwards.

Oh yeah, if we're going to dig all the way back to the '70s (), The Legend of Hell House and The Fury would be excellent choices. I'd buy both on blu, for sure. Fox has another early '70s horror pic called The Other (1972), which I haven't seen, but it looks kind of interesting.

D'oh. I forgot about that one Seymour. Absolutely, The Other fits the TT profile. Not only is it a fine movie, with a first class production pedigree, but is also graced by a superb Jerry Goldsmith score.

Woo-hoo...I think you're on to something there. Excellent recommendation.

I hope that they won't concentrate too much or just horror movies (I am not saying not to release some) but so many old classics that deserve a Blu-ray release that the top studios won't bother with since in general very few people will care about them.

If I recall correctly, The Other was Robert Mulligan's next project after his surprise hit The Summer of '42. So at that particular moment in his career, Mulligan had access to A-list everything. In addition to Jerry Goldsmith scoring, he was working from a Tom Tryon screenplay, with the legendary Robert Surtees lensing. Impeccable production, but it was the eerie performances and haunting mood that made it memorable. Uta Hagen and the twins were outstanding.

Well, I kinda saw that one coming Akijama. With no DVD ever released, I just had this feeling...you know?

Fans of Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward will no doubt love this missing page from their careers...although my strongest impression left by it was Maurice Jarre's score. Good movie. Good fit for TT. Glad they're doing it. Just not one of my all time personal faves.

BTW, when were these announced? I don't have a FB account so all I can do is skim the main postings on TT's wall. Did they mention any other titles for '13?

I've seen both of the films mentioned here, but for whatever reason, I remember The Summer of '42 more. I wouldn't mind seeing either one again.

Well if they include First Men in the Moon or the Sinbad films, they need to include the supplements - it shouldnt be that hard to port. I dont mind spending the money but for heavens sake include what was on the DVD ...

If TT does go to 3 titles per month in '13, then that solves their problem vis-à-vis the other 2 Sinbad movies oildude. Both of those Blu's could go up the same month...now wouldn't that be a powerhouse pre-order!

Nevertheless, I'd still like to see First Men In The Moon get done first. Recently, I finally broke down and watched the DVD again after an 8 year hiatus...and it's still magic. What they did with a budget in those days...

another film that I'd like to see from them (but very unlikely since it is considered bad):
