USA 'Sin City' release 4/21/2009

About a month ago, we all saw the Buena Vista Blu-ray promo video and it surprisingly included 'Sin City.' Unfortunately, the promo never formally provided a release date. I was wondering if you knew when we should be seeing the title out on Blu-ray? I really appreciate your time.

I am assuming since they have not yet listed a date that it will not be out by early summer. I would assume we are looking at late summer/early fall release for Sin City, which could coincide with a release of 300 at the same time perhaps.

Now only if Alliance Atlantis (Canadian distributors for Dimension, Miramax, etc) would get onto the Blu-Wagon and release the already-released movies.

In the USA, Buena Vista handle the Miramax/Dimension-distributed titles but it's handed over to Alliance Atlantis. Only the problem is, they also handle some of the movies distributed by distributors owned by NBC Universal (Rogue, Focus).

I wonder when they're going to start releasing them. :-/

What's interesting is that Sin City on BD is part of the "coming soon" on BD for the King Arthur BD I just bought that also includes movies like Spiderman 2, Pirates 2 etc... movies with set release dates in the near future so I would assume it has to be around the same release date as those no?

300 was listed in Home Media Magazine's latest issue as an August release date. It was just on a table, no info on whether or not it was for BD or HD-DVD at that time (if you look at that table, please note that not all available formats are given for all titles). I could very well see Buena Vista releasing Sin City at the same time, giving stores the opportunity for a "Frank Miller 2-pack." However, 300 is a Warners movie, and who knows if they'll put it on BD day-and-date w/ the DVD release; it will probably depend on whether or not PiP features are ready to go for BD. Here's hoping they will.

Well if they do a 2 disc edition like the Pirates that could be... who knows what Buena Vista is cooking in the city of sin. All I know it was great seeing Marv, and Mushu jumping, on the latest Coming Soon from BVHE trailer in 1080p on a BD

From what I've heard...Rodriguez is working on the 'Sin City' blu-ray right now since most of the publicity tour for 'Grindhouse' is over. He was going to finish the approval process for the blu-ray release as soon as 'Grindhouse' started winding down. I'm hearing an August release...but I want it sooner than later.

The good news is that Buena Vista is going all out for these Blu-ray releases. I don't know for sure but I think it will include both versions.

Other releases for which Disney has "shown" boxes at CES but not yet announced dates for are:
Armageddon
Kill Bill 1
Kill Bill 2

Maybe we'll get those later this year...

That's the extended cut right? I hope they release that too as I only have the theatrical cut on DVD and wouldn't mind checking out the extended version, especially on BD!

Talking Sin City - 2 Weeks Early

Check your local Walmarts boys and girls, seems they have broken the street date on the highly anticipated Sin City! I just picked up my copy! Hopefully you can find a copy at your local Walmart as I did. List price $29.96. Good Luck!

At that price, I'll wait. No way I'm paying $30 for a catalog title, even a top 50 all-time movie.

It includes both the Theatrical and the Recut editions. So I figure it's like a two for one, since they released them seperatly on DVD.

Thanks for the heads-up. My local Walmarts never seem to put anything out early but I may go by there tonight just to make sure.

2 movies for the price of 1?! Hardly! And I still can't get my head around why on earth anybody would want to watch the recut edition? Makes no sense to me

I never would have thought Walmart would have been the worst place to buy Blu-rays. Out of all my movies I've only bought two at walmart that were $19.99. Seems like Target and Amazon are the way to go.
