Sherlock Holmes is an okay movie but it really does not belong with most of the movies in this set. I think the Lord of the Rings is way over represented too. One movie from the trilogy would have been enough.

Does this mega-set really appeal to anyone? I mean, we're talking about 50 unrelated titles whose only commonality is the studio that controls their home video rights.
And considering these are all readily available on their own, I give it a big "meh." I just don't see the market for this, especially considering it's gonna be hella expensive. Who is this for? Last edited by benricci; 10-03-2012 at 08:50 PM. |

I can wait a little longer for a really nice UCE (featuring multiple cuts, let's hope) or the first of what we can hope is many noir box sets. |

What a cumbersome set... I find it strange that Warner Bros. wouldn't want to stick with material that starts with their own logo. Even though I'm not a fan of it, don't you think The Life of Emile Zola should be there? It's the studio's first Best Picture winner after all.

Considering there's little to no demand for that title, I'm not surprised they aren't bothering with it at this point in time.

Amadeus and Cuckoo's Nest are not really Warner films. They are licensing them for Home Entertainment from Saul Zaentz, Citizen Kane and Kong are really RKO releases and a big chuck of films Oz, 2001, Gone With the Wind etc are MGM films owned by Warner through the Turner purchase of the late 90's.
If it were a TRUE Warner Bros film set it would have these films, since they produced and distributed under the WB shield. This would be the Warner Bros 50 film box set The Adventures of Robin Hood Dial M For Murder Casablanca The Maltese Falcon The Tresure of Sierra Madre Batman (1989) Superman (1978) Whatever Happened To Baby Jane? Drving Miss Daisy Empire of the Sun The Shining Batman Begins The Dark Knight The Hangover Happy Feet Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone The Matrix A Star Is Born Blazing Saddles Camelot A Clockwork Orange Inception The Exorcist GoodFellas Gremlins JFK Malcolm X Lethal Weapon The Goonies National Lampoon's Vacation Ocean's Eleven Ocean's 11 Training Day A Streetcar Named Desire Purple Rain Mystic River Dirty Harry "300" All The President's Men Cool Hand Luke Deliverance The Color Purple What's Up Doc? Unforgiven The Town Dog Day Afternoon Million Dollar Baby The Music Man Bulllitt The Outlaw Josey Wales Last edited by Brad1963; 10-03-2012 at 09:07 PM. |
