Ok again using my powers of recall, I already suggested a blu-ray rendition of HDTV months ago. The idea was shot down big time. This would not have saved HD DVD. If anything it would hasten the obsolecense of the HDTV unit!

My OP was a joke anyway. However, I do think it's odd to have a HDTV with a built-in DVD player. A SDTV with one would make more sense. If a company is going to put in something like that, it should be something that matches up.

True, a DVD player on a HDTV is an illfitting technology balance. Once they get the whole spec thing nailed down, I think I would welcome a TV with BD player. But as I have once stated, it has to be a "blade unit", where it can be easily removed for service or replacement. About the only moving part on a tv these days are the actual buttons, which is why they last so long. TV's with players need to be accessible - period.
