Anyone planning on ordering THE RAINS OF RANCHIPUR, here's an interesting page that if you scroll down on you'll see some of the great matte painting work down for the film's special effects. (Not to mention a lot of other movies too!)

Thanks for that link Rory. After nearly 60 years, some of those matte effects appear to still hold up very nicely:

Oooooh, I think this one is going to be a 'two-bagger' on the popcorn...

Canada SAE partially back (no pictures)...

Just enough loaded to read this:

We apologize for the intermittent service today, but Amazon's East Coast server is acting up (again). We are exploring other alternatives for servers and will update with progress soon. You can read more here: http://www.zdnet.com/amazon-cloud-do...ed-7000006166/
Interesting link. I've often wondered when Amazon's EC2 'host the world' concept would fail to scale...we might just be watching that unfold here.

I guess this has been posted somewhere--

We are receiving a number of inquiries from fans who missed out on NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD 1990 Blu-ray initially, and would now like to obtain a copy. A very limited amount of copies will be available again on October 26th, 4pm EST. These will be limited to 1 per customer, and to those who had not previously ordered one from us.

I am hoping for an exciting an announcement as the last two announcements have not "tickled my toes" and not many collectors are raving or posting about them either. A classic WWII movie would hit the sweet spot for me . I could name a ton that are worthy of a Blu-ray release . I rather post an honest suggestion here in case anyone from TT is taking a look. At their fb, Bruce Pullen has already offered over a hundered titles...so that cup is pretty full. He is; however, only one customer.

There has been no set pattern Eddie. TT just posts a list on their FB wall sometime after the middle of the current run of announcements...depending, it seems, on what the studios have ready to go. My best guess is we'll see a list of the next batch sometime after Halloween, likely around the middle of November.

As for what's coming, Christine still seems likely for January or February. We've also heard rumblings about The Other (which would be a great Fox 'ghost' themed release to partner with Sony's Christine). And Paul Newman/Joanne Woodward's The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds has been confirmed for sometime in 2013, along with that double-disc Major Dundee SE in March or April. I'm pretty sure TT's crazy quilt roster of genres and eras will continue...with numerous surprises along the way. I haven't been able to predict their precise mix yet...I mean, who was expecting The Wayward Bus paired up with As Good As It Gets? Totally left-of-field combo.

Since TT's only two vintage sellouts to date were both Jules Verne fantasy-adventures, both featuring scores by Bernard Herrmann, with one a Ray Harryhausen title...it seems a bit odd that we haven't seen a similar type of release since. So I'd say we're overdue for at least another Herrmann scored picture in this collection, and the only one of those that also has a Harryhausen angle would be The 3 Worlds of Gulliver. Will they? Or won't they? Personally, I'd rather see H.G. Wells' First Men In the Moon (with Laurie Johnson's Herrmann-esque score) get done first. But hey, I just love those Herrmann ISTs, so whatever their next choice happens to be, it's all good. Just surprising that both Herrmann and Harryhausen have remained MIA since that twin sellout in July.

I also share Blu Titan's hopes for some crackin' good 2nd World War titles...and Fox has lots of them. But that's the problem; the studio might be holding onto most of those for an eventual Blu-ray revival of their Fox War Classics series. So it's not clear what Fox war titles TT even has access to at this point. I'm not as familiar with Columbia/Sony's vintage war catalogue, but I do hope their 70mm Joseph Conrad epic Lord Jim is still in the running, even though it's already gone to MOD DVD-R...what a waste of large format mastering.

I could see it Joe. With The Wackiest Ship in the Army they would be aiming straight for the hearts of those legions of Jack Lemmon fans.

Interestingly, Sony's 2009 Lemmon DVD box set also included the following titles:
  • Phffft!
  • Operation Mad Ball (another WWII comedy)
  • Under the Yum Yum Tree
  • The Notorious Landlady
  • Good Neighbor Sam
...plus there's always that post-WWII Lemmon/Mitchum/Hayworth 'Scope Noir Fire Down Below.

So maybe...

I would be down for both of those. I'm a little surprised that Those Daring Young Men in Their Flying Machines, hasn't sold out yet.

here's another wacky title I would love to see released, I don't think it has ever been release on DVD, so I doubt they even have an HD master for it. Edit: it's on itunes in HD so there is an HD master.

here's another lost gem that I haven't seen in a long time.

Yeah they are silly movies, but I love Classic Comedy

I'm with you on this! Been pushing for more Harryhausen from TT since Mysterious Island first appeared on the horizon. Harryhausen's Columbia titles are tailor made for TT's business model, especially after Sony/Columbia's great Harryhausen box set did not sell very well (as I understand). Unfortunately, I have been unable to break the code on how to get TT's spokesperson to respond to my Harryhausen suggestions on TT's Facebook site.

For some daft reason, TMMITFM's cart counter has been totally stalled at "609" for a few weeks now. But since this release remained at or near the top of SAE's weekly chart for most of the summer, I suspect it has done very well, and we'll probably see a '500 remaining' announcement in the next couple of months or so.

Actually, Sony released it on DVD (Full Screen only) earlier this year.

Great veteran comic cast though. If I've ever seen Who's Minding the Mint?, it was so long ago that I've mostly forgotten the picture. Is it any good? Oh wait...I just checked the IMDb and it has a score by Lalo Schifrin, who, just coincidentally (?), was featured in a TT cameo post on their FB wall a few months ago.

Well, things that make you go "Hmmmmm..."

I think maybe they've just been inundated with "More Harryhausen!!" "More Herrmann!!!" requests. But since announcing that they are likely upping their output to 3 titles per month in 2013, plus Major Dundee setting a precedent for double-disc release, I think that that's very good news for the two remaining Harryhausen/Sinbad movies. A simultaneous same month release or double-disc set would not only be welcome, but also make the most economic sense, since the fans of one will undoubtably want the other.

All I know is, we're hurtin' right now for both new Harryhausen and new Herrmann.

It's actually quite an entertaining movie, I all but forgot about it, and happened to run across it on iTunes when I was away on business in Ottawa and looking for something to rent.
here's a youtube trailer, but unfortunately the reviewer talks all the way throught it.
